Escorts are quite hard to sell for decent money as they have a dowdy image and the only good thing about them was the Zetec engine and lack of road noise. The bad points were the safety, image and lack of rear head room.
If your car is a good one then I would expect you will get £800-£1000 for it, but if its just the usual shed then be lucky with £750.
My dad got £150 for his N reg one as it had no MOT and needed a bit of work.

It is the cabriot model, you know the soft top, I expect it would be worth a lot more than just a standard R Reg, Ghia Escort. I know its winter but at that price its giving it away
SHOUTING AMENDED ! Its been pointed out to you once today, if you do it by accident you can always edit it later. Its easier for us to delete than re--type everything.

Its a cabrio? Well, gee who has the crystal ball this week?
|
it was mentioned in the original post but the moderator must have removed it.
anyway, no point in running a car down just because of individual preferences, remember, some on a budget and what you say are "sheds" is in a matter a fact someones pride and joy, at least it gets them to work and so longs its motd, taxed, insured, who cares??
if we were al on £30 grand a year no-one would ever buy second hand cars over ten years old.
sarcasm= lowest form of wit.

Well, actually I earn a fair bit over £30k a year and I currently have a 1996 Mondy as my family car. I am not saying the wage bit to brag, just to make a point.
Also, people are merely saying that a Ford Escort will never be sought after in anything other than Cossie and Mexico, RS type versions so your car will not fetch much money.
I like older Fords, as said I have one which is superb. My Mondy is a Ghia X with all extras and is lovely BUT at the end of the day when it breaks down to the tune of £150 or more damage to my wallet it wont be worth repairing. I'll just buy another one and throw that away when it breaks. It is worth more to me than anyone would ever pay me for it.
Its rather stupid to ask for advice on here then get the hump when the answer isn't what you want.

I never knew it was the convertable model it does changes things some what! But even then they were never the most desierable of cars. Don't get me wrong I actually like the last shape Escort, they were very underated but these days they are cheap cars which for many are dearer to insure and expensive to run (tax etc) so the market for them is limited mainly to the 35 plus area.
I could never could never afforded to insure my dads 1.6 because it was so high.
Oh and btw I am certainly not rich but that still dosn't change the fact the Escort is now in banger class.

I am looking to shift my merc quickly (see classifieds) and was thinking of using 'we buy your car'. Has anyone actually dealt with them?
|

Just valued mine (with a lot of false personal info)and if I saw one like it for the valuation price I would buy it!.
|
lol - Scenic came back 3 grand under book. I'd rather torch it and claim on the insurance! ;-)
Cheers

I believe that webuyanycar.com is an offshoot of Carcraft Automotive Group Ltd.
Judge for yourself if that is a good thing or not.

I put in details for my 1993 Volvo 940, got offered £180. It's a bit old and unfashionable, but that seemed a bit low, as we paid £600, and the car has MOT & tax! As a poster said above, if I saw one advertised for that, I'd jump at it!
This site strikes me as a refuge of last resort for people who are desperate to sell, and maybe have advertised too high to get a nibble, or just have a hard to sell model. Best avoided, methinks, unless you REALLY need the money!
For the record, I do have an old banger, but my salary (reasonably large, somewhat more than the figure quoted) goes on the house, not the car!
HTH,
Alex.
