The OFT has taken enforcement action against used car buying company we********.com over concerns that its online valuations were misleading.

An OFT investigation found that nearly 96 per cent* of customers who sold their car to we**********.com received less for their vehicle than the original website valuation, sometimes by hundreds of pounds.

This company which we will not name but buy any car (wink wink) are a joke anyway. Even their online valuations are nuts, they offered me 20% of the purchase price for my old car when i ahd a look just out of interest, it was worth more even on trade in. Im not sure why anybody would sell to these people, unless the car was a wreck or nobody wanted it LOL

Can't say I'm surprised. their business model is probably based on "buy in cheap" and then "sell at trade auctions". I would expect to get nuts for a car. But it has the advantage of not having the problems of trying to sell privately or being roundly abused by car salesmen over the heap of rubbish you are trading in ...

Surely OFT has already done the very necessary "naming-and-shaming" based on hard evidence - I don't see any advantage in protecting their name.
