Suzuki Grand Vitara SWB (2005 - ) - Rear drum brakes on 4x4-as good as disks? 16 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Work colleague is considering buying a new Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.0 petrol but is worried that the back brakes are only drums and not disks. Does seem unusual for a modern 4x4 not to have disks all round. Should he be concerned? -
Mercedes Benz A-Class (1998 - 2005) - Changing Brake fluid with an ABS system. 15 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I need to change the brake fluid on my car. Do I empty the system first and then fill and bleed, or should I just introduce fresh fluid into the reservoir and bleed each calliper/cylinder until new fluid comes out? -

V.W. Sharan Brake pad warning light. 30 May 2007 (Forum)
The brake pad warning light has come on, I have replaced the pads ( the old ones still had about 10mm left on them) but the light is still on. All the wiring seems to be o.k. If I disconnected the battery would this reset the system, or could it cause more problems. -
Astra Vibration 24 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I have an Astra 1997 estate, when I brake around town everything feels fine but when I brake from above 50mph I get a severe vibration through the brake peddle and the steering wheel. I have recently changed both the disks and wishbones but the vibration is still there. -

Ibiza brakes - too good? 15 Dec 2004 (Forum)
The wife's '54 reg. Ibiza 1.2 5 door is a great car. However, the brakes seem to be either on or off with nothing much in between. Slowing down for speed humps is a nightmare as I usually put everyone through the 'screen. Can this be rectified somehow or do we have to 'live with it'? -
dodgy high level brake light : MOT fail? 30 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Ho hum....SWBO's Omega estate is due for an MOT next week; just noticed that the LED brake light built into the rear spoiler only has a couple of the dozen or so LEDs working. Do I need to get my soldering iron out pronto; or is this OK for the MOT? -

Renault Clio - Rubbing noise when braking at low speed to stop 26 May 2024 (Forum)
Hi, I have started to notice a new faint rubbing sound on my brand new clio when braking from low speed of about 5 mph to come to a full stop. The car has done about 1600 miles so I assume the brake should be bedded in by now. It doesn’t sound like metallic which could happen if a pebble would be stuck in dust shield. -
VolvoXC40 auto - Uneven braking 26 Jul 2022 (Forum)
Bought in late 2019 prior to the pandemic has kept our mileage low at 9000 so far. Very early on we experienced a hunting/ hopping feel when braking or coming to a full stop. Reported at each of the 2 services. Initially we were told that rust had built up on brake discs because of the low mileage and that this would disappear. We were told the next year that a software upgrade would fix it. -
Vauxhall Zafira B - Brake and rear lights not work 25 Jul 2020 (Forum)
Everything electrical works perfectly except yesterday I noticed the main brake lights had stopped working, bulbs are fine, all connections I can check easily are good and the high level brake light works? I then realised the rear lights are also not working (same bulbs) as I said everything else is fine, all front lights, hazards all round, fog light and reverse lights. -
Volkswagen Golf - VW Brakes Pulling Unpredictably 18 Apr 2017 (Forum)
In the 1980s I owned, I think 3 new Polos and 3 new MkII Golfs over probably 6 years . I did a lot of M6 cruising and always the brakes pulled unpredictably to one side or the other (wet and dry) when braking behind the frequently stationary traffic. I never hit anything or lost control completely but it was alarming. Subsequent MkIII , Mk IV Golfs seemed not to suffer neither have a Passat or Skoda Octavias. -
Focus mk1 - Ford focus mk1 brakes 17 Apr 2017 (Forum)
I had my mot 2 days ago it failed on two front hoses which I'm cool with. But also failed on imbalance brakes on the rear local garage took them apart cleaned them had a look etc all looks fine as they did them 12 months ago. I had a look myself today and everything seems fine. But when i had a look around the brake pedal i saw fluid leaking slowly out of something I'm unsure off.
