  • Why we should be backwards in looking forwards 2 Aug 2017 (News)
To be seen to be looking back was to be seen as not progressive. Some, one notable example being Citroen, would baulk at mention of their past glories. The 2CV may have been a car that mobilised a nation, but it was also an old-fashioned tin umbrella with very little in the way of technical innovation, and that made it unfashionable.
  • Comment: Has the recession wiped out some future classics? 21 Mar 2016 (News)
In recent weeks, we’ve seen once ubiquitous cars start to rise from the under-a-grand ‘bit of fun’ category to being worth a reasonable amount of cash. Three grand for a Ford Orion Ghia, for example, or Citroen XM Exclusive that reached the heady heights of £4,850 on eBay, and it wasn’t even a low mileage example. Indeed, I was offered £3,000 for my 1995 Rover 800 Vitesse just the other day, and it must be worth that much at least, because I said no.
  • New Vehicles and New Ideas at Mobility Roadshow 7 Jun 2012 (News)
GM Coachwork is showcasing its new compact DUO drive-from-wheelchair vehicle based on the Citroen Berlingo. Brotherwoods' new wheelchair-accessible Volkswagen Sharan Super 5B will be on the test track for the first time. Adapted motorhomes also feature and the Belford Transfer Lift is a new invention, which allows wheelchair users to access a motor home or caravan without the need for extensive coachwork modification or costly  custom build.

While an 80k mile 02 BMW 320CI 2.2 with leather shot past its reserve of £9,750 to sell for £10,400 and a 28k mile 02 reg MINI Cooper S was also dear at £11.650. • Rovers Recover Slightly at Auction 20 May 2005 (News)
Also good value today (in no particular order), a 103k mile Y reg Focus 1.8 Ghia 4-door sold for £2,000, a 79k mile 2001/51 Mercedes V220CDI Avantgarde Estate sold for £9,400, a 107k mile 2000X BMW 320d SE Touring sold for £5,600, a 39k mile 2000V Citroen Berlingo Multispace diesel sold for £2,500, and an 11k mile 03 reg FIAT Doblo 1.9 JTD ELX kombi in a fetching shade of ‘Brazilian Yellow’ (yes, really) sold for £5,600. A 15k mile 2003/52 MINI One with a/c, 15” alloys, rev counter, and CD player sold for £9,400, making a 12k mile 03 reg MINI Cooper with a/c, 17” alloys, CD autochanger and half leather which sold for £9,800 look rather better value.
  • Private Buyers Bonanza at BCA Blackbushe 24 Dec 2004 (News)
An 11k mile 03 reg Toyota Yaris 1.0 Colour Collection began at £4,000 and went for £4,800. Yet there were some bargains. In contrast to the 71k mile 97R Citroen Saxo 1.1SX sold on Wednesday for £1,025, a sister car 78k mile 97R SAXO 1.1SX at no reserve sold today for £775; a decent enough 101k mile 96P Escort 1.6 Ghia was sensible money at £825; while a 115k mile 94M Mondeo 1.6LX estate was less than half the money of Monday’s 112k 96N 2.0LX estate, selling for a straight £250.
  • Plenty of Auction Action Today 22 Dec 2004 (News)
Some part-exchanges were being let go for very little: an 81k mile 99T Subaru Legacy 2.0GL Classic estate (ideal for next week’s snow) sold for £2,600; an 81k mile 98S SAAB 9-3 2.0S sold for £2,225 and someone’s daughter or son will probably be very happy with a 71k mile 97R Citroen Saxo 1.1SX bought by dad for £1,025. A 19k mile 2002/52 Nissan Terrano II SVE 7 seater with the rare 3.0DI engine sold for a sensible £13,500, and even came complete with a loadliner.
  • Plenty of Cheap Cars at Auction Today 24 Sep 2003 (News)
    Top bid for the 116k mile 94L MX6 in the photo was a mere £975. A pair of K and L reg Citroen ZX TDs with 139k to 145k bid to £175 and £275. A 121k mile 96M Audi A6 2.0 bid t0 £700. A 139k mile 96N new-shape Rover 214Si started at £100 and stopped at £725. An unwarranted mileage 94M BMW 316iSE was a mere £1,375.
  • Surprisingly Dear at Auction Today 29 Aug 2003 (News)
And what should have been a cheap 88k mile 2000X BMW 318CI coupe wasn’t when it romped up to £10,300. The right Citroens, too, were in the money. Among a selection of Picassos, a 42k mile 2000W 1.6SX bid to £5,225; a 28k 2001Y 1.6LX bid to £5,900; an 11k mile 2001Y 1.6SX bid to £6,500 and a 15k mile 2002/52 1.6LX bid to £6,525.
  • Rover 75 Diesel for £6,075 at Auction Today 28 Aug 2002 (News)
And the legacy of Quentin Willson lived on in the £3,500 paid for a none too presentable 112,000 mile 94M BMW 325iSE. Probably the best bargains of the day were a 100,000 mile 99V Citroen Xantia 2.0 HDI 90 LX in a nice metallic blue, sold for £2,800. And a spotless yet 169,000 mile 1990G LPG converted Range Rover 3.9i Vogue SE auto that sold for just £1,450. Auction action is likely to intensify over the next few weeks and though prices will inevitably drop as we get into October and November, so will the quality of cars coming through.
  • New Vauxhall/Opel Flagship From Summer 21 Aug 2002 (News)
The Interactive Driving System (IDS) debuted in the Vectra II is duplicated in Signum, and there are additional features like Adaptive Forward Lighting with bi-xenon headlamps, the steering-linked headlamp system that lights up bends in the road like the Citroen DS and SM, and an orthopaedic and air-conditioned driving seat that can be adjusted eight ways. • Auction Prices Continue to Rise 7 Dec 2001 (News)
The bargain basement included an 82,000 mile 97R Escort 1.6LX sold for £2,250, a 111,000 mile 97R Astra 1.7LSTD sold for £2,025, a 70,000 mile 97R Mondeo Si V6 bid to £2,775, a 122,000 mile 97P Audi A4 1.6SE sold for £3,300, a 97,000 mile 97R Peugeot 406 1.8LX bid to £1,950, an 89,000 mile 97R Merc C200 Elegance auto bid to £7,700, a 118,000 mile 99S Merc C200 Classic manual with a/c sold for £6,500, a 67,000 mile 97R MGF VVC sold for £6,900, a 96,000 mile 98R BMW 528iSE bid to £7,675 and the 98,000 mile 98R BMW 318Ti Compact automatic with s/r and a/c previously seen last week which finally sold for £5,600. But the sensible mileage stuff was on fire. Two year old Citroen Saxo 1.1s were being snapped up for £3,500. A two year old base model Punto with 17,000 miles and in white went for £3,225. Stick a three-pointed star on and the difference was even more marked.
