New Focus Diesel 7 Mar 2001 (News)
Combined consumption is stated to be 51.4mpg, but no CO2 figure is yet available. The engine is a direct injected common rail diesel with fuel pumped into the rail at 1,600 bar. Electronically controlled injectors then meter the fuel into the combustion chambers. Normally the engine puts out 184lb ft torque (249Nm), but the electronics allow what Ford calls transient overtorque for improved acceleration when the accelerator is being pressed. -
Millers Launches New Range of Energy Efficient Oils 28 Feb 2013 (News)
Millers Oils has launched a new range of Energy Efficient oils employing Nanotechnology that have been proven to cut fuel costs by up to 2.5% and reduce engine wear. The oils reduce friction and the result is a potential 2.5% improvement in fuel economy and up to 50% reduction in engine wear. Nanodrive Low Friction Technology was first used in motorsport gearbox and engine oils, allowing racers to release more power and torque by reducing frictional losses in the engine. The same technology has allowed the design of Millers Energy Efficient engine and gearbox oils for the everyday car. -

A further £390 million will be invested to develop ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEVs), renewable fuels, and autonomous vehicles. -

Peugeot 308 'is a green choice' 1 Jul 2009 (News)
A couple driving a 308 SE HDi 110 recently made a trip round Britain with the aim of using as little diesel as possible. During the 3,700-mile trip, the auto achieved average fuel economy of 126.8 mpg. This was verified by an official from Guinness World Records and even Peugeot admitted to being a little surprised. Fleet sales director Phil Robson stated: "We've been telling customers that our low-CO2 ... vehicles are ... very economical and fuel efficient, but I have to say even I am very impressed by this achievement. -
Green motorists may be impressed by Fiat invention 9 Mar 2009 (News)

Organisers of this year's ALD Automotive/Total Excellium MPG Marathon state the event has shown avoiding sharp braking and accelerating can cut fuel costs by an average of 23 per cent. They point out if everyone in the UK adapted their behaviour behind the wheel in this way, a total of £8.2 billion would be saved each year. People taking part in the 2008 marathon undertook a round trip between Bristol and Macclesfield. -

Cambridge car club looks to cut congestion 9 Jul 2008 (News)
A car club has been set up in Cambridge with the intention of cutting congestion in the area as well as sidestepping expensive fuel costs, a local news source has reported. Cambridge News has stated that for £49.50 per year, drivers can hire out vehicles as and when they need them, with additional costs depending on the automobile required.
