  • Citroen Picasso Pedal Peril 31 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I have an 18 month old Picasso which seems to have developed an alarming problem with its pedals. Under heavy braking the pedals feel as if they all move en masse down toward the floor. If I have the clutch pedal pressed fully down at the same time then it can actually become jammed against the carpet when easing off on the brakes.
  • Squeeky wheel on world's worst supermini 25 Jun 2003 (Forum)
The problem is an intermittant squeek at low speeds from the drivers side front wheel hub. It's definately not the brakes rubbing because I jacked it up and took off the brake caliper, turned the wheel by hand and it still squeeked. If it is the wheel bearing can I just leave it until it starts to go crunchy grindy or should I get it sorted right now?

Handbrake doesnt fully bite until fully pulled up. Fail or Pass? 4. Spare Tyre has slow puncture - Fail or Pass? Thanks. Also, my brakes have started squeaking quite badly when braking. New pads were put on front last year. Other causes? Thanks Again, Murray

  • ABS warning light 16 Jan 2003 (Forum)
It also says that the vehicle's brake system operates conventionally without ABS function. So what could have happened ? Is this serious ? an urgent matter ? potentially costly ? Thanks a lot for yr invaluable opinion, Catalyst
  • can you stall an auto? 3 Sep 2002 (Forum)
I suppose not, as the torque convertor takes up the role of an automatic clutch. I ask this because several times I have forgotten to release the parking brake and drove off, I wonder if it really works! I did read in the manual that you should apply the brake lightly when driving from time to time so as to clean the rear drums as they arent self cleaning, I did try this but it made such a frightening noise I decided against it!
  • Who\'s fault? (Motor Accident) 7 Jun 2002 (Forum)
My Dad was driving along when a car with trailer pulled out of a garage turning from the right onto the road in front of him. Dad had two choices-he would have had to brake sharply or he could overtake smoothly. He chose to overtake the car but whilst overtaking, the car decided to pull back into the next entrance of the garage and clearly without checking blindspots or mirors, he crossed my father\'s path and despite his braking, they collided fairly heavily.
  • Rover 416 Tourer (1995) 25 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Has anyone out there experienced noisy front brakes on the above model. The vehicle in question has vented discs but does not have A.B.S The noise can only be described as a metallic graunching/rubbing noise when braking gently after the car has been used for about half an hour.
  • Peugeot 207 1.6 automatic, Petrol, 2009 - Fuel Consumption and ABS error 15 Sep 2017 (Forum)
Hi John, I dont mean to bother but, since theres a channel of communication i thought i might give it a try ;)   Ive bought a Peugeot 207 1.6 automatic, Petrol, 2009 last year, and at start, car was a dream. With 1-2 months of use, i had to replace brake discs. Not sure that was the reason but, then, my computer panel started to show a msg saying "ABS Anomaly". Car breakes works just fine, but it shows several times when im driving, each time i touch brake.

(it's fair to say the brakes were actually in need of change, but maybe not that urgently?)
  • Kawasaki zx6r G2 2000 - Led indicators 1 Nov 2013 (Forum)
Hi all ive recently replaced my back light and indicators on my bike with an led light unit with intigrated indicators bult in i also got 2 little white blocks with 2 wires 1 eather end of the block the seller told me these were resisters.I was aware that when you put led indicators on you need resiters/relays to slow the flash speed down,so anyway the old unit had 3 wires earth, brake and tail light and there are the indicators left/right wires live and earth eather  side, the new unit has got 5 wires earth, brake, tail light and 2 indicators so i wired earth, brake and tail light but i put all 3 earth wires together that left me left/right indicators so i put these resisters between the join and only 3 leds worked eather side so ive removed the resisters and located the indicator relay and bridged 1 of the resistors across the relay and its all good brake light/tail light indicators flash as they should all working all leds light up,but ive since noticed the front indicators which are standerd light bulbs flash in sequence with the led ones but they dont go of with the flash they flash but they just go dull and then bright,it may sound a bit of a brain tester but does anybody no if what ive done is right or what wrong do i need to re-wire or get a relay and do away with the resister or what any help advise would be much apriciated as its got me now im confused.com thanks glyn..
  • All - EU tyre labelling confusion 31 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Seeing as the new tyre ratings are for rolling resistance, wet braking and noise are about to come into force, I thought I'd check out how my tyres fared. My tyres are 175/70R13T The new Kleber came up with a pretty poor rating: Rolling resistance: F, wet braking: C, noise 69 Fair enough, it's a cheap tyre.
  • Skoda Fabia Classic (2001) - MOT failure... indication of cost! 26 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Offside rear parking brake recording little or no effort. Parking brake efficiency below requirements.   A lot of the above makes no sense to me! I know about the wishbone, and have got a price for the part, but the rest, I'm not so sure what I actually need done!
  • Peugeot 1007 - Peugeot 1007 rear brake calipers won't wind back 2 Oct 2011 (Forum)
"We can't offer advice about brakes in case you sue us"  - what utter rubbish "We have never experienced that problem" - I don't believe that "Book it in and we will apply out expertise to fixing the problem for you" - I will never darken their door again after these responses So, can somebody on here offer the advice that Peugeot refuse to divulge.
  • Audi TT Coupe - Failed Break Booster in Brand New Audi TT 2.0 TFSI 28 Jul 2010 (Forum)
After a mere c.800 miles use, a constant hissing noise developed from around the above's brake pedal.   The dealer replaced a brake vacuum pipe to no effect and has now diagnosed a fault with the brake booster.
  • Scenic 03 - 1.9 Dci Fidji 23 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Since buying it from the main dealer last year, I have had trouble free motoring until now. Just before I bought the car, Renault fitted new brake pads to the front. However, as the cold weather has started, the breaks make a slight irritating squeal when I brake. Not a problem as it doesn;t happen all the time I brake, probably every 3 presses of the brake pedal on average.
  • Replacing wheel cylinder (all vehicles) 2 Mar 2006 (Forum)
That's never done...) or do we just think it probably will? Just as important, would it affect the brake balance (MOT testable), having one new one and one old one? Then the shoes. Of course on one side they've been covered with brake fluid. I will clean up the drum with brake cleaner (and garages have done this for me with previous cars so I presume it's standard practice).
  • D'oh, why me? 3 Mar 2004 (Forum)
must be something to do with sellafield....ho-ho-ho-". I pointed to the stain and told him i had a brake fluid leak, he bent down, rubbed it between finger and thumb, and confirmed that itwas brake fluid. i told him i had spent 20 mins underneath car, but couldn't find where it was coming from, he said " no you won't on that!!
  • Towing 23 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Because it was only clutch actuation at fault, we left the engine idling on the SAAB so had no battery drain issues, and reassuringly for me driving and owning the car in front, full servo braking and powered steering! Solid, instant, torque from our manual gearbox V70 2.4T made the towing part a breeze, but there were a few BOING, Boing, boing, bng, bg moments along the way when I was hauling the SAAB in to the biggest roundabout gap he was ever gong to get, when the driver would then lose his nerve, stand on the brakes, and decide to wait for Christmas.
  • Omega Auto Box 6 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Twice today the car has refused to release the gear lever, and also has not extinguished the "Brakelight Check" message. Clearly the car believes the brakes are not being pressed and so is not performing the brakelight check, nro releasing the gear lever. Hammering away at the brake pedal for a few moments eventually causes the check light to go out and the gear lever to be released.
