on my 306 cabriolet as I appear to have an oil leak from the back. I am struggling to get the cover past the brake cylinder for what seems like an eternity now. Any ideas? I have undone the brake cylinder so that it has some movement but this does not appear to have helped. -
Citroen Xsara Picasso (2000 - 2010) - 02 2.0 Unexplained slowdown 24 Aug 2009 (Forum)
I've been experiencing occasional brief slowing down when driving as if I've applied the brakes momentarily. I've also been told of my brake lights flickering. Since I believe this subject has come up before (Linesman in March 09 I believe) I'd be grateful for any information to explain this experience and, hopefully, a cure for the problem. -

Renault - 95 2.5d Master - burning from o/s front 20 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Burning smell after some moterway running - traced the smell to the aforementioned wheel. Quite a large initial smell, but died down a bit. Brakes not especially hot when we'd stopped - though it did take a few minutes to park and find the affected area. I assume its likely to be brakes? I guess bearings would make a whine? Cheers, James -

Ford Fiesta (1989 - 1995) - 1995 - Handbrake stuck. 1 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I have a MKII ford fiesta and tonight the handbrake got stuck, not the actual lever but the breaks. My partners father tried to sort it but when I got in it the car didn't feel right; as if the brakes were still on. Also I think there might be some brake fluid leaking. I'm not sure if its because of the cold weather but if anyone has any suggestions that'd be much appreciated as I have a long journey next week! -

Polo Twist 2004 1.4 squeak 4 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I have had the above car in the VW garage 3 times and they have finally decided that a squeak in the axle areas when moving is caused by the brakes needing deglazing (?) - not sure that is the right term. They said it could be because I brake too softly (!). They are asking £220 to do this which seems exorbitant and more like the cost of replacing them altogether. -
Personal best wheelspin 18 Dec 2005 (Forum)
The garage under my apartment is huge and has a really shiny concrete surface. By holding the car on the foot-brake, revving hard then releasing the brake, I can do fantastic wheelspins. Yesterday?s rubber marks were about ten metres long before I bottled out (heading for concrete wall). I know I can beat that though, I? -

VW Passat (1995) master cylinder 4 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Does anyone know a source please for repair kits for my brake master cylinder? The car has covered only 37000 miles in ten years with fluid changes so a repair kit should do the trick for my mushy brakes. Replacement cylinders that I am offered all have four exit ports whereas mine has only two. -
Judge John Deed.. 21 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Watching the programme last night I noticed that Judge Deed had changed his car from Audi S3 to Porsche (or does he have both?) Anyway..the Black Hats cut the nearside front brake pipe, causing Jo Mills to crash whilst chasing the baddies. Question - don't most modern cars (especially luxury sports) have a back-up system working on diagonally opposing wheels, allowing the car to brake safely? -
Modified Cars? 15 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Boosted engine performance would clearly require reporting. But what about less obvious modifications such as the drilled and grooved brake discs HJ has included in his news column? What about spoilers, lowered suspension, wider low profile tyres etc etc? Obviously there is an argument that spoilers, discs, tyres etc could improve handling and braking. -
PUG 206 Diesel Left wheel grinding... 18 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Hello Folks, When I let the car cruise (at low speeds), not accelerating, no radio etc there is a grinding noise from the left (passanger side wheel). I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the brake pads and the discs (which I found rather surprising as the car has only 12,000 on the clock). I am sure however that it sounds like the brakes are not releasing? What could it be? By the way huge amount of threads relating to peugeot's...or is it just me...? -
Help me Mondeo Issue 28 May 2003 (Forum)
On Sunday afternoon I parked my Mondeo 2002 2.5L on an 8° hill, obviously I engaged first gear and hand brake. After 10min, I went back to my car, only to realize that it was 50m downhill embedded with a telephone post. The hand brake lever was still on position. Can anybody help me? I can\'t understand what happened. -
