Good value budget car

This was bought and driven (mainly) in Spain - the 2.0 petrol auto was not available in UK, and is no longer offered in Spain. It was the original version, prior to the upgrade. The trim was the UK-equivalent level 3. Mileage in 3+ years = 44,000. Fuel consumption = 37.9 mpg - rural and long motorway runs.

Main reason for choice - it met a number of requirements:

Cruise control
Spacesaver spare
Leather trimmed seats - previous car's had worn through
iPod connection
Folding mirrors - narrow garage entrance
Warranty - normal is 2 years in Spain - so 7 was a bonus

Did regular cross-Spain (600 mls) runs and had no aches or pains.

Has been 100% reliable. There was one recall (master brake cylinder). Rear wheel bearing changed under warranty - detected at 37.5k service. Servicing costs comparable with previous cars

Few creaks and rattles on bad surfaces towards end of ownership.

Firmish ride - not helped by 17" wheels - which is the main fault with Kia/Hyundai - there is no flexibility of options - if you want a good-specced interior you have to have the big wheels. Likewise automatics are only available with limited trim/engine options
