Order books open for Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabrio

The Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet can now be bought in GTI trim, with a 210PS 2.0-litre turbocharged TSI engine. Prices start at £29,310 for the manual and £30,610 for the DSG automatic. Order books are open now.

The Golf Cabrio GTI gets the same styling cues as the GTI hatchback, with red-lipped honeycomb grille, front fog lights, side sill extensions, 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear diffuser, twin chrome tailpipes and smoked rear light clusters.

The classic tartan interior trim makes a return, while leather upholstery is an optional extra. GTI detailing, alloy pedals and red stitching set the GTI apart from other Golf Cabrios. The folding fabric roof can be raised or lowered in 9.5 seconds at speeds up to 18mph.

Thanks to the 210PS 2.0-litre turbocharged engine 0-62mph takes 7.3 seconds and top speed is 147mph. The official fuel economy figure for the manual is 37.2mpg with emissions of 177g/km. The automatic is slightly behind, with an average claimed figure of 36.7mpg and emissions of 180g/km.

Order books are open now and first deliveries are expected in July.
