My wife has a T reg Polo when there's a frost the lock freezes and can't open doors or boot is this normal for polo's? any suggestions to stop this?

as for all cars its moisture (water) in the locks freezing that stops the lock turning
the best way to stop this is to displace the water in there with release oil (which has a much lower freezing level) by spraying some into the locks via a straw
with regular spray of oil in there its will mostly be oil in the lock mechanism and not water, and this will not freeze at the temperatures you are likely to encounter in UK

Careful spraying too much oil into the locks. You'll end up diluting and washing out the grease that's been put there during assembly of the car.
