Back Room Poll - Martyn [(ex) BR moderator]
I left the latest poll on the board for longer than usual, because I wanted to give it the best shot. Remember, the question was about paying for membership of The Back Room (though, as I've said several times, we have no plans to introduce a charge).

The result was interesting. 60% said no, they wouldn't want to pay for membership; 39% said yes, they would.

Well, for now at any rate, that's an end to the discussion.

There's a new poll, as from today. Find it at the top level of the forum.

Back Room Poll - Mark (RLBS)
Well, since Martyn started this poll and he's the boss....

I'm afraid I had to answer yes to the new poll.

Due to a desperate, urgent and immediate need to exit a farmer's field late at night to escape watching eyes. It *was* some years ago. Unfortunately, having left the haven of the field there was nowhere to do something about my state of undress until I had driven some distance through a comparatively busy, and brightly lit, village.

Anybody else ?
Back Room Poll - Dynamic Dave
Anybody else ?

Er, yes. Similar circumstances as yours Mark, but I was in what I thought was a deserted carpark at the time! I\'m just thankful I was driving an auto, as trying to operate the brake and accelerator with trousers around my ankles was difficult enough, without the added complication of a clutch pedal to contend with!!

If the \"anyone else\" question is for others as well, maybe this thread needs unlocking? [Done. M] Or is this Moderators confession time?
Back Room Poll - joe
I am a yes too, but not in a car. Anybody else ever done it on a motorbike???
Back Room Poll - Martyn [(ex) BR moderator]
That's three 'yeses', but only one of you has had the courage to vote!

I did think of dividing the options in the poll into three: No, Yes (m) and Yes (f). But I reckon that would skew the percentages too much. However, feel free to particularise your responses in this thread by gender. Mark I already know about (and I'm saying nowt!); Dave, I have a good idea; Joe - Josie?

This is true. That's what you get with crappy freeware, unfortunately.

I voted too.

I am a Joe as in #Joe Bugner, not as in Josie Lawrence.
It is actually short for Jonathan, and my dear old mum originally shorted it to Jo. however, I got tired of being sent to sewing classes at school, so I added the "e" because I have never seen a lady spell her name this way.
Back Room Poll - Martyn [(ex) BR moderator]
You mean you can't sew?

Well I can, because of the sewing classes I did go to. I made a lovely fishing rod case, with loads of extra pockets and very fancy french seams. I still would have preferred metalwork though...
Back Room Poll - Dynamic Dave
I voted \"yes\" as well. So that should be at least 2 votes.
Dave, I have a good idea; Joe - Josie?

Who\'s Joe - Josie?

What was your vote then Martyn?

Dynamic Dave asked:

HF showed some momentary interest too.

But I don't contribute to the polls... it wouldn't be seemly.

I have a friend whose wife regularly drives him to catch the early morning ferry before breakfast, and she generally wears at least one half of her pyjamas. She's a good driver, he says, but he hopes and prays they never get back-ended on the bypass.

So it was you Mark(RLBS)....

Many years ago pulled up alongside car in field with steamed windows rocking violently.

Rap on the window and up came a naked hairy backside pressed hard against the window and which then desended leaving a clear imprint on the window in the shape of a large rounded 'M'.

Oh the tales we could tell.... briefly another. Doubled up with a newbie to patrol on nights and did a tour of the old Thornaby Airfield which has a courting spot for Middlesbrough. Newbie that agog he asked me to go round again.....

Back Room Poll - Flat in Fifth
Always used to hate being seeded (no pun intended) No 1 on night road rallies.

Running first on the road means you have to clear the courting couples blocking up entrances to whites. But then you do see some sites and makes you realise it takes all sorts.

What about the other 1%? Or is it the crappy freeware problem again ;o)
Back Room Poll - HF
So from this new poll we can already conclude that, statistically speaking, 66% of all Moderators have driven naked. And that's before we get Martyn's answer ;)
HF
Back Room Poll - Mark (RLBS)
Not at all, I probably drive 66% naked a lot of the time.
Back Room Poll - J Bonington Jagworth
"66% of all Moderators have driven naked"

Then they would seem to get out more than most of us, if the current poll results (92% No) are to be believed.

I must admit that the question immediately brought to mind the film A Shot in the Dark, with Peter Sellers in that condition, sharing a Mini with Elke Sommer. Oh well...
Back Room Poll - HF
Aren't we all a boring lot?

Maybe we should all become Moderators, and inject some spice into our lives? ;)
HF

Oh you don't need to become a Moderator, just go out for a drive with one !!

ok, who is the fourth ?

Seems I had a very lucky escape when you gave me a lift down the road that time, M ;))
Back Room Poll - CM
Not quite sure how to answer this one. I have driven with a certain part of my (male) anatomy exposed to the elements.

Should I vote yes or no?
Back Room Poll - HF
CM's dilemma is an interesting one. Do we have any guidelines as to what constitutes 'naked' as opposed to 'fully-naked'?
Back Room Poll - Martyn [(ex) BR moderator]
HF asked:

The Poll uses the word 'naked'. Naked means just that, naked, neither more nor less. There are no degrees of being naked. If one wears a sock, for example, or some kind of woollen headgear (on one's head or anywhere else for that matter), one is no longer naked.

Martyn,

You\'re weird. And I have a mental picture of you in one sock and a woolly hat that I could do without.

>>Naked means just that, naked, neither more nor less.

And I can work out what less than naked might be, but *more* than naked ?
Back Room Poll - Tomo
Martyn, my good man! Logically, you are correct; but I feel you could be arrested quite a way short of being fully naked, depending on what is showing.
Tomo.

Well then, if that's so (and who am I to argue with a moderator?), Dynamic Dave should have voted no in the poll, as he had driven (and I quote) "trying to operate the brake and accelerator with trousers around my ankles".

Unless of course he has another naked-as-per-the-definition trip to his name.

HF, if ones \"bits\" are on display, I constitute it as being naked.
Back Room Poll - HF
Well Number Four is certainly keeping it under their hat, so to speak.

"HF, if ones "bits" are on display, I constitute it as being naked.

So, for instance and to get back to motoring, the Caterham 21 is clothed but the Super Seven is naked.

Still too confused to take part in the poll.

Question I have is why would anyone want to drive in the buff in the first place? For a start I can well imagine that most/all of the BR people are no oil paintings!

Mine's probably a Picasso, or maybe a Dali :-)

Well just to revive this for a mo - it seems pretty static at 10 admissions at the moment, 20% of them being Mods. But a startling thought, I seem to remember it being said that there are around one hundred regular posters here? correct me if I am wrong. Which would mean, assuming only regulars tend to vote in the polls, then 1 in 10 of us have done this naked driving lark. Scarey thought, eh? ;)
