Hi My son is looking at replacing, his aging manual tiguan, which he has been very pleased with however has an itch that needs scratching, namely automatic and newer, can anyone come up with a better alternative, he has looked at the kia / Hyundai options but wasnt won over, the Toyota rav 4 is only available with the big engine for similar money or should he just go with the latest tiguan?

<< No one is asking them to do it for free or be non-profit but taking a £160 commission on a £450 policy seems excessive. >>
Well, avoiding comparison sites didn't seem to give DL much of an advantage - or was the saving not passed on to customers ?
Needed rather urgently, since I have to return to Taiwan in less than a week, so retail better than internyet, but latter might still be possible, and might be necessary to get some technical info.

If this is true, given the hugely convoluted hoops that modern cars are contorted through for tiny energy savings, I'd think the industry isn't gooing to be very keen on replacing ethyle with propylene glycol, despite the odd collateral dead cat (or bust bearing)
I thought most modern vehicles used OAT (Organic Acid Technology), although there is mention of others....

My son has a 2016 1.2tsi manual Octavia hatch and that tugs along rather well and is very refined even at speed (60mph = 2000rpm) so the 1.4tsi will be rather lively. On a run his mpg is usually 50+ and he doesn't hang about. The hatch has a huuuge boot as well. A 2020/2021 model could be the new model and it will be the 1.5tsi - check you like the touch screen. I can't comment re DSG auto gearbox except I know quite a few people who have them with no issues except a Dual Mass Flywheel failure at high mileage. There is one advantage of the Octavia re the way things like the doors close - a proper "thunk". Good car.
If the controls had been different re heating adjustment on touch screen I might have bought a new/nearly new Octavia myself but the genie is out of the bottle now for me and I really like the Toyota based hybrid gubbins and it has buttons! If you consider something like the Corolla TS estate or Swace please note the increase is power circa 2023....
Hello,i want to ask the owners of ecoboost 1.0,in few months from now,i'm going to change my wet belt, the manufacturer uses belt from Dayco, but they suggest me Contintental or SKF as alternative choices, more stronger than Dayco's.My car has near 95.000km,in few months will catch 10 years,as FORD suggests for belt change.

Each to their own I guess . My friend does wet belts on every thing, including the Puretech engine. Never needed to remove the motor .
Hi All
We are examining potential options to move on from our current Kia Venga Auto 2012. It's a model 3 so has plenty of toys and a panoramic roof which makes the interior very airy and light. We have no worries about it being deisrable as a trade in, especially as Autos seem so popular at present and its petrol and ULEZ compliant so no issues on that score. It's also only got 56K on it so plenty of life for any next owner.... Read more
I don't think you need to be afraid of a Jap import, some models are prevalent in the UK (for good reasons!) like the Toyota Alphard, parts are plenty and there have not been too many changes to this model over the years.
They are all cam chain undtressed engines and built quality even on older examples are sometimes better than new cars....
I currently drive a 2017 Vauxhall Astra 1.4t which I enjoy driving but looking for something bigger but with similar (or better!) fuel economy.

However, I would rather have an estate. With raised suspension. Unfortunately, they are thin on the ground and usually come with four wheel drive which raises the running costs. About the closest is a Dacia Jogger?
Toyota Corolla Trek. However, it won't have the latest generation of hybrid so 122bhp 1.8 or 184bhp 2.0.
Hello,
With some great advice off these forums, I bought a Mazda 6 in Jan this year. Really happy with it - all I have had to spend is £40 for a new roll bar. Servicing is coming up, and so far it has always had a main dealer service, until its last one at the second hand car dealers. ... Read more
Here’s a suggestion. If you do a low’ish mileage-just have a big service done every two years. The annual MOT is a useful guideline check and I keep reading that oils are easily competent for 24 months these days
I think all engines in the Mazda 6 have cam chains so service every 24 moths is a bad idea. I'm not sure whether the original posters car is petrol or diesel but if the latter then even more regular oil changes a good idea as the DPF implementation is poor and they are known for polluting sump oil with diesel.
Well, as per new budget.
Until now they were classed as commercial vans for tax purpose. From April 2025 they will be cars. Double cab pickups were popular for this reason as people could use them as family cars but after this change it won't be attractive anymore.... Read more
