I've driven an Xceed (PHEV). It was OK, but the boot was tiny and it's very hard to see out of. I much preferred the Proceed when I tried that. I'm not sure I could ever buy a Kia, though. They constantly bing and bong....

Sons just been lucky enough to be given the use of company vehicle, as per the title its a Ford range, top of the the range, 3.2 twin turbo auto.

While he said its nice to have b***** thing is doing around 15/20 mpg plus being a 9 gear auto it apparently never stops changing gear, the big shock to me was the price of the thing, 45k!! Read more

I also recommend a Vitara, they're great value for money and well nailed together. That said if your budget is say 8 grand spend no more than six on the car itself. Save the extra two grand for insurance/tax etc.

In August this year I part exchanged my Subaru XV for a 2020 Skoda Kodiaq SE drive, 1.5 TSI ACT, petrol, 7 seater, manual, one owner, 24,00 miles on the clock. Very reputable garage/car dealer, full service, 12mth warranty etc.

OK just contacted garage, mentioned thrust bearing and DMF here is their reply:

We replaced both of those parts you mentioned along with the clutch plate itself. The thrust bearing is what we suspected and whilst we had the box out to do that we did the clutch and Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF).

Hi,

We have owned our Vauxhall Mokka from new. It has a full service history and 125,000 miles on the clock. A few months ago I noticed an acrid smell from the exhaust. It is noticeable as soon as the engine is turned on. It passed it's MOT in August with no advisories. I have tried a fuel cleaner and a cat cleaner but these have made no difference. The engine is running fine and there are no warning lights on the dashboard. Does anyone know what the cause could be ? About a year ago there was a leak from the turbo hose which was replaced. Could this be a factor ? Read more

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post, and the upcoming long post, I will try and keep it as concise as I can.

Due to being hospitalised for three months almost 2 years ago and my recovery to "normality" has been long and slow, my car has been sat in my garage all that time and never moved and off the road for both tax and insurance, Ironically I bought it brand new just a few weeks before everything went to pot, ... Even though it hasn't moved, there is unlikely to be much wrong with a 2 year old car that hasn't been used much and has been stored in a garage. It might have a flat tyre or two, and will probably need a new battery, but other than that it should just fire right up. Brakes will be a bit graunchy, but should clean up OK in a few miles. I wouldn't worry too much about the warranty, it has probably lapsed since you have not had it serviced, and I imagine fitting hand controls will invalidate it anyway. You mention Arnold Clark, are you in Scotland?

Hi all, I was just about to book in for 4 Michelin cross climate 2 tyres, since my current are rather terrible slippy budget summer tyres. However the CrossClimate2 in my size (195/65/R15) are speed rated H, unless I go for the reinforced ones which are V (91V specified on drivers door sticker) Reinforced seems a bit overkill for the Mazda 3, no? Would it affect normal handling/braking negatively? (Largely town driving, some m'way and some muddy lanes) Any thoughts appreciated, thank you! Read more

Interesting. So let's say your version of the car has a maximum speed of 115mph. But the manufacturer makes another version that does 138mph. But for ease of manufacture and cost reasons puts the same rating on all versions say up to 149mph (v rated)? Which is far in excess of your requirements.

Since my car won't go over 115mph flat as noted in the owners handbook. What's to stop me fitting tyres say h rated 130mph? and saving a few quid....

Clearly I know nothing about this class of car, but the brit car mechanic that runs a car sourcing bizniz for expats here in Taiwan says German makes have an especially poor survival record here and cannot be recommended.

Porsche, 4WIW, are the exception.
