Hi all
I tried to read around on the subject before posting, but nobody's speedo problem sounded like mine, so I was hoping with my different set of symptoms people might be able to work out what might be wrong...... Read more
Hi all, I'm in the market for an SUV. It's myself, my partner, and our 3 dogs. Also, possibly a baby on the horizon. We are brits living in southern Sweden. Probably something 2018 onwards, second hand from a dealer here.

If you must have AWD then Subaru, but in my experience of 27 years living up a steep hill, half a mile off the road, winter tyres (not all weather which is marketing twaddle) on 2wd beats normal tyres on AWD. An XC60 under £30k might be quite old, but 2018 is probably doable for a fairly low spec one
Our Forester summer set are getting thin, still very legal but i don't like going below 3mm even on the shoulders, up to now i've been running winter/summer sets (have second set of wheels), was going to leave tyre buying till next spring for new summer tyres but have decided this time to stay with the summer wheels and go all season instead, will flog the existing winter set which still have plenty of tead in due course.
After much consideration, and good service from previous Quatracs on family cars, have opted for Vredestein Quatrac Pro+.... Read more
I always check and retorque the wheelnuts after my car comes back from having the wheels off. The last time was for new rear tyres and they were spot on which is reassuring.
I posted on here previously asking about getting another diesel car. Having done a lot of reading since (and scared myself half to death), thought I would come back to get more advice on a forum that seems a good one to me. And I have run a forum myself previously, not about cars obviously, so understand what makes a forum good.
OK, have decided to possibly spend a little more than the original £8K I was looking at to get the right car for hubby and self. Possibly up to £10K or a little higher.... Read more
Also, would this 4WD with 18" wheels mean it is less fuel efficient. It has has 4 previous owners since 2018 registration?

Anyone have any knowledge or thoughts on the face lifted Suzuki Swift? Daughter is looking to replace her 8 year old Baleno and likes the look of these. She wants an automatic, which I believe to be CVT which I don’t think is the case in the Baleno..

Will do! Thanks for the earlier input, it’s much appreciated. It’ll be well serviced as they extend the warranty up to 7 years if it is.
What would happen if a driver was "fined" for non payment of parking fee - if they were picking up a disabled passenger - in a wheelchair who, obviously could not use a free bus to get to a picking up zone ? Read more
The problem with fines from private companies is you hear two conflcting pices of advice: you can either ignore their nasty letters and they'll go away after 12 months, as the fines are an invoice and not a penalty, or they can come after you with bailiffs, substantially increas the fine and take you to county court where you can be given a CCJ. Since the law changed 12 years ago, it's likely the parking companies will come after you if they think they can win and make money.
This is a great car, used daily, utterly solid. Mechanical parts are usually the same as Honda UK's cars, but bodywork parts are not. Unfortunately there is now a crack on the windscreen large enough to require the whole screen replacing. Honda UK will not help me, beyond supplying a part number. I am enquiring about importing a new screen from Japan (I did successfully import a door mirror last year) but I have heard something about a glass company in the UK that makes bespoke screens. Has anyone any experience of this service please? Read more
This is why I had to reluctantly part with my Honda Element.
Yes it shared a good degree of parts with the 2nd gen CR-V, but by no means every wear and tear component. Three months and considerable shipping expense getting hold of brake callipers, being one of a few painful examples...

Having passed my driving test 590 years ago and always buying diesel cars since I was 26 due to towing various caravans, I now realise that I need a completely new education about newer cars.
My last car purchase was early 2016 which was a Honda civic, as this is the car that came out best on here for MPG at the time (except for electric cars) which I could not afford and was far too ‘new technology’ for me to want to deal with.... Read more
DPFs EGRs and now adblu injection into the exhaust with euro 6.
DPF = Diesel Particulate Filter ; EGR = Exhaust-Gas Recirculation. DPFs became standard fittings on most European diesel cars from about 2006 onwards.

£130 but you need to add on the delivery getting it to their place. I think that was another £20 (RM Next Day)
I removed the cluster on a Sunday, sent it off Monday morning and it was back on the Thursday. But it can be longer depending on what the fault is. Mine was the usual degraded solder so no parts needed.
