Looking at supermini/small car that's used and max 4 years old BUT a traditional ICE and sharing same facelift as sister hybrid/EV models?. A lot of the manufacturers hiked prices as they only seemed to introduce hybrid even 4 years back. Thoughts? Read more

Trying to help a friend whose insurance lapsed because he thought it would auto-renew and it did not. He was very unwell at the time with a life threatening illness and has other co-morbidities affecting his mobility and his mental health. He's on Universal Credit and both elements of Personal Independence Payment due to the life threatening illness.

Officer who pulled him after an ANPR 'ping' didn't detain the vehicle. Friend went straight home and bought fresh insurance. The pull was over the BH weekend. ... Read more

Thanks Gerry, it was quite a long time ago like Jan or Feb so I don't hold out much hope.

He'll have to wait and see what drops through the letterbox.

Taking a Yamaha RZR brake master cylinder apart, for which I need circlip pliers.
My tool using is probably coming to an end, so cheapo from the local all-night hardware store might do. BUT the Youtuberry shows weird cranked Edward Scissor Hands stylee things that the hardware store (and probably all of Taiwan) dont have.

To see if the wee cheapo thing would fit, I unpackaged it, and…er…removed the circlip.... Read more

Hi mate thankyou for the reply,

Engine management light on but intermittently.

Been to a local garage ran diagnostics and the fault code that came up was low pressure fuel rail too low ( code p0087 )

High pressure fuel pump was replaced and issue still there

It drives perfect around town, but if you push past 3000 it goes in to limp mode.

Kind regards

Got trapped in this yellow box here on this road - Purley Way (A23) - www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.3602159,-0.1174821,3a,75...u

Went through on green with the traffic in front of me but then I couldn't see far ahead enough and I assumed traffic was going to keep moving, but then stopped and I ended up in the yellow box. So a costly misjudgement. I would say 2/3 of the car was in the yellow lines, however I did not impede traffic that wanted to turn into the road on their right, not that that matters I guess. ... Thanks for the responses and yes hah, I do not have a Lexus. I just chose a random one in the drop down menu - not sure why they ask that every time you post.

You don't have to put anything in that box, never have done and never will....

My battery has been going flat intermittently for a few months. I got a new battery a couple of months ago but recently it's been happening more and more, to the point where, if left overnight, it will need a jump start in the morning.

I got a mechanic out and he told me the issue was the alternator, so I got a new one installed. The next day I had exactly the same issue. I've since done tests to check for parasitic draw but there isn't any. The mechanic advised that it must be the battery (having been worn out by the alternator issues and regular jump starts). I took it back to Halfords this morning and they tested it and told me the battery was in perfect health. Eventually they did agree to replace it, but I'm now concerned there is still an issue but I'm at a loss to what it would be! Any ideas if could still have been the battery or what else it could be? ... Read more

How did you check for parasitic drain?

If you disconnect the battery overnight, has it still gone flat in the morning?
