Quite normal judging by other members who've raised this. Don't write to them, phone them up and also look on the various comparison sites.

I just bought a 1 year old CX-5 for £25K and picked it up 200 miles from where I live. On the drive home I noticed a mild vibration at motorway speeds and reported this to the dealer (Arnold Clark) when I got home.

After an inspection at my local (Arnold Clark) dealer they say the tyres are (all) out of shape and need replacing. Here is my question....the tyres on the car I bought are TOYO (a premium brand) but they are offering to replace them with a budget tyre (ROADX, a budget tyre from China).... Read more

Hi. I just bought a cable for my Google Pixel 7 pro to the car's USB point. It worked for a few minutes and displayed Google maps. Now it's not working. Do I need to buy a better cable please? Read more

Yesterday I spent looking for a lost part. Steel top-hat thing that goes inside the bottom of the forks of my also moribund Yamaha RZR. Unlikely to be available as a spare.

Bit heavy and the wrong shape to roll, but its gone. I had left a slight gap under the roller door, for ventilation, so maybe I accidentally kicked it under.... Read more

My Picanto has been with dealer for 2 months with a failed airbag module. The part is on back order and they can give no date for delivery. They don’t have any parts and there is a shortage of materials to make new ones hence the absence of delivery’s date.
The car is out of warranty so no courtesy car or help with inconvenience of not having the car.
They have said it could be months before a part is available but they have not way of knowing how long. I get weekly call saying no news. Tried private auto electricians but there are no after market parts available either…
I am wondering if I would be entitled to any sort of compensation towards the cost of the eventual repair as it has left me without a car for months and the quote for the repair was over £700!
Not sure who to ask ie omburdsman about any consumer rights…

The best approach would be to first confirm the part number of the failed airbag module. Once you have this, explore sourcing the part through alternative suppliers including online OEM parts dealers and salvage yards which may have suitable second-hand units. Additionally, consider contacting specialized automotive electronics repair services that might be able to repair the existing module, as this could be faster and potentially more cost-effective than waiting for a back-ordered new part.

I currently own a 2013 Astra Elite CDTi S/S 5 Door Diesel which is having issues with the Diesel Particle Filter (DPF). I've had it cleaned a couple of times and this seems to help for about 4-5 months but then it has issues again (even though I'm driving it on the motorway a fair bit).

I need it to last another 1-2 years until I can afford a better car so was considering getting a new DPF. If I go for the official Vauxhall one however it will cost a fortune. I've heard you can get third party ones that are a lot cheaper (but I assume are just as good or at least close?). Does anyone know where I'd get a good third party DPF in the UK for a decent price? I know someone who can fit it for me at "mates rates", I just need to get the unit.... Read more

It could be the built in mileage limit, just like PSA vehicles have, where at 120K it tellls you it needs replacing, whether it does or not. It can be reset though.

Subject which wouldn't fit: Any actual data on lifetime of Enhanced Flooded Batteries (EFBs) in Standard (not Stop-Start) Cars?

Pardon the intrusion from across the pond, but EFBs are just starting to be retailed in the US. And this forum was recommended.

The EFBs tout enhancements like 1.5-2 greater "cycles" etc. Have the impression that EFBs have been more common in the UK for much longer. Presume people must use them in standard cars, too. (Especially as there is no question of whether or not there is a need to adjust charging in older vehicles to be better aware of an AGM.)

Is there any real data on their operational lifetimes in regular cars? (Perhaps especially those that sit or only take short-trips.) Seems paying a bit more, for significantly(?) longer life, might figure favorably in cost/value.

Would appreciate any comment. Read more

Indeed, i replaced the OE battery on daughter's 15 plate Civic a few weeks ago, much higher rated Yuasa AGM replacing the Honda original, the new Yuasa was considerably heavier than the one that came off.

Nearly ended up getting one from Cox via their ebay shop, pics and details on the listing seemed confusing as to what exact CCA and AH figures the new battery would have, phone call confirmed it would have been same as OE, went with the much high rated yet similarly priced Yuasa from Tayna (longer warrant too) which arrived the following day.
