Depends on your priorities I guess. I just love wafting! Although, for some reason, I really like the sound of those old 4cylinder engines paired to tall-geared 4 speed automatics, something about that drone you get at town speeds is just super.

Can't help thinking the 800 series was not the car Rover wanted to make. It looked good, but the sleek front and compact honda suspension design forced them away from their favoured long-travel suspension setup. I do still like them though! If only Honda could have taken over Rover not the asset stripping BMW.

So I'm in the market for a new (used) car, which is actually my first bought vehicle, been using Car Club for 3 years but want something of my own now. I want something fun, yet reasonably practical, decent mpg, reliable. Basically a kinda catch all car. I feel like I've narrowed it down to the Swift and Leon, which are obviously a little different, but seem to tick all the boxes.

Ive been swayed away from diesel, as the majority of my driving will be city based, though about 3/4 times a year I'll be doing a round trip between Edinburgh and Norfolk, which is obviously a fairly hefty journey... I don't have kids and all my mates have cars, so really I don't need anything huge or super sensible. Which would you guys go for? Am I missing a better choice? Also, baring in mind these fairly regular long journeys, should I actually be considering a diesel? ... Read more

Very different cars but I get the appeal, I’m a fan of both the Swift Sport and the Seat Leon 1.4 TSi FR. I’d recommend digging a bit deeper though in order to get a good approved used example however as your £8k budget is at the bottom end for the Leon and simply not enough for the current Swift Boosterjet 1.4 Sport. That said, there’s plenty of 1.0 Boosterjet Swift’s available for this money and with 109bhp in a lightweight body they’re lively enough and still great fun. A friend recently bought a nice 18 plate example for just under £8k and he absolutely loves it.

They might be able to find a 3dr Leon SC (even better looking than the already very attractive 5dr car) for a bit less than the more numerous 5dr. In red or black, like the original Honda Civic Type R, looks very stylish indeed. They also get climate control on the FR which isn't available as standard on the equivalent VW Golf (GT)....

Hi

A friend has just bought a car privately from someone who works in the motor trade who was running the car himself and he in turn appears to have bought the car from a friend who is another dealer as a trade car and has been running it as such (i.e. he never bothered to get the V5C). So the problem is there is no V5C with the car and obviously my friend is obviously trying to get the thing registered in his name. The last V5C was issued in 2011.... Read more

Not my area of experience but doesn't the fact that it's still taxed suggest that the change of ownership has not been registered?

If it has spent a longish time as a 'trade car' I should think that is quite possible. If nothing else, it keeps the number of 'previous owners' down.

Hi, I'm looking to buy a used family car - full (self charging) hybrid is a must. Unfortunately because I'm renting my flat and only have on-street parking, PHEV hybrids and electric cars are out.

It seems like the same cars always crop up in reviews - Toyota Prius & Corolla, Hyundia Ioniq, Kia Niro. Couple of Hondas.... Read more

A 25-35 mile range on electric with a PHEV will for many cover shopping, commuting, school run with a charge needed every one or two days.

If you have no way to plug in, then they are fairly pointless - a lot of complexity and weight for little benefit. Whether it makes financial sense is a question separate to environmental impacts. ...

Hello everyone. Currently I own a diesel Vauxhall Insignia 2015, but unfortunately I need to say goodbye to it because of London ULEZ. And I was thinking to get my next car a plugin hybrid car. I browsed the market a little bit and I came up with 3 options:

1. Volkswagen Passat 1.4 TSI GTE DSG - 30 miles range, petrol, 90k miles... Read more

As others have said, I wouldn't buy a PHEV with my own cash unless it had a watertight manufacturer's warranty - and that's after having had a BMW 225xe for 3 years and 25K miles.

It was a fantastic car - the best company car I've ever had - and it had absolutely zero faults during my ownership. But PHEVs are fearsomely complicated and most dealers have absolutely no idea where to start with diagnosing faults if anything does go wrong. ...

Teslas have inbuilt cameras (several) Front, Rear, both sides. These are constantly recording and keep a snippet of any incident involving sounding the horn, sharp braking, etc.

Hey all. So a bit of a back story, the flap under the glove box that recirculates the air has been ticking for a little while when reversing, i was advised it would cost around 300 to get fixed because of how they have to strip everything out to do this. So i left it, recently it has started when the car starts not and not just when reversing.

So about a week ago my car started with this squealing, or like an owl (yes an owl) sound. its like a cooing, at first i thought it was something scraping on the break disk so i took it to the garage.... Read more
