Remember ordering these for the office in the eighties and they never really hit the spot with me.
Then the Rover bankruptcy and lots of bad publicity.
But seeing one today in a lovely dark blue driven by a retired gentleman I'm wondering whether I would like one
It must be a diesel because of the bad reputation of both the petrols.
But I should like your views please . Read more

Rover 416 GTi - Well made and classy with leather and wood combined with 128bhp Honda twin cam motor. These were genuinely nice little executive saloons.

Yeah, always liked the R8 Rover and these especially. Nearly bought a H-plate 416 GTi in about 1996, it was in that vivid green over grey, with grey leather. At the time I had a G-plate Civic with the same engine, wish I kept that too!

In a previous post I expressed alarm at the tedious amount of time it took to complete this simple task-but I eventually sent an on line submission with all the details DVLA required.

I quickly received a response and a notification that I could track the progress of my application and the on line advice was that everything had been noted and my new post code was accepted etc.... Read more

It appears DVLA are in a serious predicament, but I understand the delays.

I applied for an over 70 license in February, before my birthday in April. I completed all the forms D2 and D4, as I needed to preserve my towing weights for our caravan; and everything posted recorded delivery....

Hi,

my Mazda CX5 2.2 diesel 2014 went in for a recall for a safety issue with the shutter valve. I picked the car up and a few miles down the motorway all power cut out without wanring and rolled to a stop at the side of the road. The police came got the car out of the way and it was recovered back to the Mazda dealership. They've had the car for two weeks and phoned yesterday to say they don't know whats wrong with it, Mazda UK don't know whats wrong with it, but they 100% can say its nothing to do with what they did. I argued this and spoke to the manager, who eventually told me that they do know its an issue with the fuel not going through, but thats all they know.... Read more

"Mazda UK don't know what's wrong with it, but they 100% can say its nothing to do with what they did"

Hmm - But if they don't know what is wrong with it, how can they say that it's 100% nothing to do with what they did?...

This thread seems to have gone as far is it can in terms of helping the OP, some different opinions have been given, it's up to him now to act. I don't think there's anything more to add so I'm locking the thread.

Small update: I just watched a video from the Aussie equivalent to HJ, John Cadogan, who was reviewing (track day) the i20N. I wonder if we'll get this car, given (unlike Mazda) they appear to push their hot hatch models in the UK these days? More affordable than the i30N, but still quick at around 0-60 in just over 6.5 sec.

If these vehicles know where they are etc. by Satellite signal how do they cope in wooded areas . Normally SAT NAVs lose signal where trees line both sides of the road giving the driver no information about the road ahead.. Read more

If the ALKS works on clear road markings then I wish it luck. Heavily used roads have markings obscured by tyre marks and low-maintenance. Even I struggle sometimes on a wet road into the sun. I cannot see any advantage in ALKS other than a driver's aid like cruise control. Let another country try it first and pick up the pieces.

Hi there!

My corsa B has a cooling problem. When the temperature goes up beyond 100, steam starts hissing out of the radiator inlet pipe. This happens after about 20 minutes of being sat idle.... Read more

Hello all, hope you are all well,

Is it true that used car prices drop steeply once a car gets to 3 years old?... Read more

another thing that can affect prices is when there was a complete model change or a mid-life facelift. The older version is usually considered to be worth £hundreds less even if there may only be a matter of days/weeks between registrations. It's usually worth looking at exactly what the changes were & whether they make a difference/are worth the extra to you.

Dealer currently has my 2014 i10 (sub 20,000 mils from new) for minor electrical fault. Has just reported start of oil leak from gearbox, plus possible contamination of clutch. Repair quote incl new clutch circa £ 900. Service desk intimated they have seen this fault previously. I have a longstanding relationship with the dealership whom, rightly or wrongly, I regard as trustworthy. Since vehicle is less than two years out of warranty I'm inclined to try for a goodwill contribution from manufacturer. Can't find much previous comment on Hyundai's goodwill track record. Details of any previous experience appreciated. Read more
