I am a low mileage car user around 5000 miles before lockdown and perhaps around 3,000 during the pandemic.

One of the best truck sounds I heard was in Cuba. Presumably a Russian V8 under the hood. I think it was a Zil 131.
My Dad used to drive a Magirus Deutz tipper truck, it had a 12.8 litre air-cooled V8 diesel and had a lovely sound!.

Pull the plugs off the glow plugs and check the resistance of each one with a multimeter. Expect a reading of around 1.5 ohms. If any are less than that, or considerably more then a fault code is likely to be generated.
Stop-start hasn't worked for months. Not driven much during lockdown and been sitting a lot in the cold weather. Took it for a battery check yesterday (No problem with it), and a good run today, but no joy. Can anyone advise? Thanks Read more
I would echo FP comments re the parameters. When my Civic was only 18 months old the S/S decided to stop working in November and came back to life in March when I was on the way to the dealer for a service where I had asked them to check it out. They checked it out anyway and said there was no fault. The same winter huff continued all the while I had it. Too much drain from ancillaries in winter to meet the percentage full charge parameter.
Even after a new battery at six years old gave the same result that winter....
So the other week I changed my head gasket and timing belt as I had all the classic symptoms; milky coolant., white exhaust, low coolant. I changed the gasket and timing belt, as well as flushing the coolant and the engine seems happy. The idle rpm is stable and sounds normal.

Just to tidy this up, I've resolved this issue. Although I checked the timing of the timing belt, the timing was off on the distributor. I adjusted it and am back up to full power.
You arrive at a service station low on charge. But all the charging stations are full. And there is a queue. So you know you are stuck for a while. If you stay you will over run the time allowed in the service area before you are penalised. If you push on to the next service area you may run out of charge on the "Smart Motorway" and risk 30 tonnes saying hello to you if you havn't been spotted. What is the legal positon on staying in the service area? Read more
Just pay for longer parking - simple.
Or don't buy EV - even simpler :-)
Hello, I have noticed recently that the passenger side front brakes are getting around 6-7 degrees hotter than the drivers side front. I took the brakes on that side apart and checked the caliper and it goes in and out easily no problem. I regreesed the slider pins and made sure the ears on the pads could slide easily aswell but this has made no difference.
It's not making the wheel very hot too the touch but using a infrared thermometer there is always a 6-7 degrees celcius difference on the front. ... Read more
I was just wondering if there was a difference of around 5-10 degrees would that indicate a problem but everyone seems too think its alright so that's put my mind at rest. The wheel never gets hot too the touch or anything just slightly warm, same as the other side so nothing is binding otherwise even the wheel would burn my hand if I touched it
I will just keep an eye on it. Thank you for the help. ...

My light came on today but I drove home - a distance of about 30 miles. I didn't drive fast as recommended in the handbook - no more than about 40 mph.
Everything else was working normally. You said you read the code when you got home. How does one do that? I have the car serviced by a Mazda specialist about 20 miles away but was thinking of taking it to a local garage where I take our other cars. Would they be able to diagnose the fault?
