It always amazes me that people are prepared to spend tens of thousands of pounds on a new car but then won't shell out a few hundred quid each year on a main dealer service whilst it is within the warranty period. I always consider haviing main dealer services for the first three years or so as part of the overall purchase of a new car.

So the message I'm getting is its going to be expensive more faffing about in airports. And given the upcoming recession the demand for air travel is projected to be much much less.
My question. Do you think we still need more capacity at Heathrow? Another runway? Personally I think more capacity should be in Stanstead., but it might not be needed for ten years. Given it takes us 50 years to actually build a mile or so of runway whats the point anyway,?... Read more
The Japanese are absolute machines when it comes to construction.
And the Chinese. I suggest googling how chinese build high speed railways to be amazed by their civil engineering ability. Their viaduct construction and track laying machines are truly awesome. Much of their HS rail is in a concrete trough viaduct which cuts down noise and has little impact on the farmland and roads below it. Can't understand why our HS is mainly at ground level with all the expense and inconvenience that entails in making it level and providing so many crossing points....

Difference in Japanese designed engine bays and configuration compared to European in the 90s was considerable.
Taking a 1999 Nissan Almera and comparing it to a 1999 Vauxhall Astra; the Nissan parts where assemble, logical and easy to work on. The Astra was a pig including an inaccessible water pump and thermostat.
Yet of the 2 the Astra was a far nicer drive!

I'm in a bit of a shoot off with these three now. £20-30k or so budget. 2017+ Sub £40k VED ideally. I had the Mustang as a winner then someone said about the Boxster as we have a highly rated specialist here in NI in McMillens. Looking for something manual 6+ cylinders to keep, I can id cycle and have a camper and occasional access to other cars so probably only for 5000 miles p.a. unless I really can't get enough of driving it. I don't really want it to spend random times £££ on holiday at the mechanics....
