Gents, A little word of warning, I recently purchased some car cleaning products from a well known motoring shop that is only taking online "click and collect" orders at present ( Avant I wasn't sure of forum naming and shaming policy). A few days later I received a email inviting me to review my purchases, As I was more than happy with the products I decided to go ahead.....big mistake! I'm now getting at least 3 emails a day from dating websites some of which are quite explicit, I very rarely give out my email address so it can only be them that have sold on my details. Read more

Sometimes the review sites (separate from the firms that sold you the items) are US owned and thus will often (and sometimes in breach of our/previously EU privacy laws) have automatic opt-in privacy/communications settings, whereby you have to contact them to opt out of having your personal data used - inlcuding sold on to God-knows-who 3rd parties via data mining firms.

Even using some UK firms, they can breach the privacy rules (the insurance screenscrapers have been nototrious for this) and so I always check before even contemplating buying whether they do this or what you have to do to stop your information being 'mined'....

How about ending the ULEZ exemption for black cabs?

With regard to motor insurance, it's not quite true to say, "nothing is happening as of yet". Admiral, for example, are refunding £25 per vehicle. Read more

I read in todays paper, I won't say which one as it tends to set people off in another direction, that it can cost £100 more on the premium for driving an automatic car. Apparently the reason is due to the added complication of auto boxes and cost to repair? Since when has an insurance company had to concern itself with repairs to auto gearboxes other than the odd box damaged in crashes? Read more

Albeit some may react badly it would be interesting to know which paper reported this. It's not exactly 'political' content is it? ...

I am desperately re-posting this as I hope there is someone who has experience of this kind of issue out there, and can say if there is anything simple that may cause it, of if its a known fatal issue... I have to deal with it very urgently.... Read more

I started a new thread after being convinced this was the best convertible 6 cylinders or above for a tall driver - anyone have any first hand experience of owning one? I've been warned about parts availability and A/C evaporators failing and poor NCAP rating (don't care) so far. Read more

You’re right about ved. Mine was sub 40k but I think convertibles with options did come in over 40k. Registered in June and annual ved £160 ish. I should know as I’ve just paid it??
as for the gearing - 6th is very long but don’t worry about it being too short, one of the joys of an NA V8 is how flexible it is.

Hi, I have a very bad diesel leak from 1.6 zetec s, I've changed injector seals etc but it's definetely not leaking from there. I had my friend who's a mechanic look, and he got a picture of where he thinks it's coming from, somewhere around the fuel pump.
Before he had a look, I replaced one of the pipes/clips because I thought that was the source of the leak, after replacement it's clearly not leaking from there.

I've attached an image of where my friend thinks the leak is, any help would really be appreciated, it's probably one of the most annoying problems I've came accross on cars.

There are a few of these available, low mileage, couple of years old and lowish cost -about £10 to £12k for a 1l 125hp petrol.

They tick some boxes: price, upright /higher driving position, space etc.

Any views from the forum appreciated and is the auto any goood?

Thanks Read more

Bit late to the party I know but here is my opinion of the C-Max.

This review concerns the first generation C-Max, not the car the OP is (or was) considering....

Planning on spending a bit of time T-Cutting and waxing the car, but I know it’ll end up being let down by cloudy headlights. Has anyone used any of the kits to refurb them? I’ve only got an 18V cordless drill if they need power tools, or I’ll have do them manually. Tried toothpaste and T-Cut to very little effect. Read more
