Evening - my i40 is coming up to 84k miles and today I was shocked to here that a clutch and flywheel costs 2.5k and that's not the main dealer! The mechanic was very busy so and I could see he was having a bit of a day, so I left. My question is, why are Korean cars so b***** expensive for parts and why are no after market parts available. Safe to say I'll be going back to skoda as a clutch and flywheel including fitting is £550. Thanks Read more

On 24/04/2016 I reported an electrical fault which caused my Fabia to cut out and fail to start. The garage investigated but couldn't find a fault. Some weeks later another fault developed, this time with the dashboard display - the central information panel failed. This has now been replaced under warranty. It is speculated that this was also the cause of the first problem. So far here have been no further problems. Read more

Eight flats in a converted Victorian building in Devon. Twenty or so years ago rendering removed (cracking) and walls repointed with cement mortar to replace original lime. A new owner has claimed cement mortar is 'causing' penetrating damp and is demanding the walls are repointed, which is prohibitively expensive.

Has anyone any experience of problems with cement mortar ? if so any advice ? Read more

Thanks again Concrete. It is unfortunate that some people do not listen to reason and just keep on repeating an incorrent claim.

Ii is a shame that some people only accept what is said if it agrees with them !!!

Honest John ,

The Fiat doblo van and MPV both have a light that illuminates when the DPF is regenerating.

I think the Fiat Qubo MPV and Fiorino van does as well

Along with the light, there is an extensive section within the owners manual and additional tags around the gear stick on delivery explaining how a DPF works and what to do.

Where do I begin. Randomly get error message injection system fault. I've replaced the egr valve as someone suggested that. When I took the old one out it was sooted up well but also had some oil on it so went completely new. Since then it's been running worse keep getting the same message as before but now it seems like the turbo doesn't cut in. No strange noises no smoke just no turbo. Don't think it's in limp mode as it still revs up to restricter if you dip the clutch. Please has anyone got a clue as I'm out of ideas now also money the thing has cost me more than I paid for it in just over a year. The car was bought for me before I get the shouldn't touch them. Lol. I'm learning that the expensive way. Read more

This seems to be a continuation of the problems you described in May (2016), when you reported, from what I recall, that the timing belt had been replaced. You did not respond to my suggestion that the timing was incorrectly set up...!

I was thinking that, in the one close up of a tyre its a MIchelin which should do far more than that

Agree, My last set of Michelin's had 5mm of tread left when I changed them and they did 21,000 odd miles.

So. drove from Colchester over to Carno in mid wales to collect a bearded collie puppy.
Left at 4 am A12/A14/M6/M54 and then local roads, hoping to miss traffic and impressed with the A14/M1 junction.

Passed a very old corsa diesel on the M54 going a bare 40 mph...all the HGVs having to pull out and pass.

On the "elevated" section through the M6 roadworks barely slowed down either way, returning through the roadworks about 17.30. Realised i was in the wrong lane and when I indicated to move over, immediately let in.

Puppy not happy in the cage in the back without the luggage cover, so put her in the footwell where she got a bit of ayrcon in a high sided caedboard box and the lead fastened tp the seat release lever. One happy puppy, sat quietly dozing and occasionally looking at me.

And the Kia? 39.mpg a bit going at motorway speeds till shrewsbury and 38. a bit returning with more traffic, and the scenic route over the hills from Carno to welshpool.

The puppy? settling in and been called Blodwen... she is welsh after all.

Happy Hols everyone. Read more

The Sandero has got to be the bargain of the year with prices still advertised at £5995.

But has anyone on this site bought the basic model and have any experience or regrets about buying one? Read more

The basic 1.2 Access is just that. Basic. Reliability is good, but lack of air-con and electric mirrors might not be fun.

They drive well, though, so as a town car or a commuter the Access model could be enough.
