My Sky box kindly recorded this film - excellent period comedy drama (1960s) with some motors in it that were a common sight for people of a certain age - over egged car chase involving a Wolseley 6/90 Police car and an Aston Martin DB5 ( I think) driven energetically by the Peter Sellers character. Worth watching if only for the roadside architecture. Apparently out on DVD !
In one scene as part of the plot level crossing gates are closed by the mob using a large wheel in the signal box - I actiually forgotten I'd seen this sort of stuff as a kid ! Read more
So where are you ?
Outskirts of Angmering, so close enough to Arundel to make travel from there a better proposition than going round via Hove. Plus the scenery is infinitely preferable.
Mrs B's aunt lives just next to Angmering station crossing and she got very, very bored with these foghorn blasts from the Electrostars passing through. Couldn't understand the need for it there, either. Any of the local twerps minded to trespass on the line when they get bored of vandalising parked cars (motoring link) aren't going to be discouraged by loud train horns.
With all the mention of dodgy car dealers, poor service and other horrors I was wondering how you actually find a decent dealer to buy from? One site I have found is called www.compareyourdealer.com but it doesn't have many reviews on it.
The motorcodes thing is sorting out poor garage services but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of finding out which selling dealers are duff.
There are quite a few out there that are showing car reviews but I am struggling to find decent dealer reviews.
There are things like reviewcentre but I wanted one that is kind of motoring only rather than a general review site.
Have I missed any obvious ones?

Hello
My wife and I live in France and we are very poor financialy.
To cut a long story short we have been running our old nissan with a defective UJ for nearly 2 years.
Before he moved back to the UK I asked him what would eventualy happen, he said it would get noisy and to avoid full lock.
At one point we felt we could afford to get the work done (by an english mechanic, french mechanics are extremely expensive).
The mechanic tried 3 times to get the parts, there was a problem because of modifications made during model changeovers or something.
Finaly he took the wheel to pieces and photographed some parts and was going to try again, but he went back to the UK and never returned.
We have no choice at the moment but to run this car. But we are worried that the wheel will fall off or something terminal will happen when we are out.
Can someone tell us what will happen to the wheel?
Thank you so much.
Richard

Whilst I agree the OP shouldn't be driving an unsafe car, can we now get back to offering advice on where he can source a replacement part for bangernomics money.

My girlfirends car is squeeking when I turn to right or left. The squeek isn't relative to my pressing the gas, or clutch. Does anyone know what this could be? Read more
Quite likely to be a CV joint.
It seems like Fiat are up to their old tricks. Lets change the nose on the Punto and bung the price up. I remember they ruined the car once before in the early 2000s with a nose job. Oh and how come my old £7k car is now a £14k hatchback. How long before the discounts fall out of the sky. Since when did anyone pay £14k for a Punto, Id like to see the depreciation curve on that one. Botox for my old car anyone? Read more
It does seem rather pricey but from what Ive read its a fair bit more than just a new nose. New engine technology for one.
My aplogies if I've missed a thread on this, but the search came up blank.
Have you seen the new Astra out and about yet? 1 sighting for me.
What are your thoughts? Is it a new star or does it belong in the gutter?
I'd love to hear what you think. Read more
It mainly depends on the trim spec to as whether it's enabled or not. Basic spec = no, high spec = yes.

Wonder if this is a liked issue
