My Honda FR-V clutch is already slipping with the car having done less than 50,000 miles. I always ensure that I do not ride the clutch so I definitely cannot put that down to bad driving habits. I highly rated Honda but this is such a disappointment. Has anyone else had the same problem? Read more

I have a seat with dsg gear box
But there is good and bad news.
I found the box fantastic, it's smooth and fast, I was really pleased with it.
Then....
It broke, jumped in to netural, I've been told its shot inside and they can not repair it and it's going to cost me £3500
So would I have another one, I really did like it, and I would like to have one, but not if it's going to cost 3500. So if you replace your car within warranty , then yes
.
Having just acquired a 2003 Civic 1.6 I checked the Car-by-Car, which says that the engine appears to be 'non-interference' when the belt fails. Can any Backroomer confirm this?

Low fuel economy is one of the symptoms of turbo failure.

Interesting how the emergency services are screening the crash, I guess from passing traffic - or am I wrong
Good idea I think? Read more
We do screen in much the same way here with plastic opaque sheets to provide some dignity to seriously injured or the deceased at RTAs. We don't have dedicated screens like those shown, but maybe this is a step forward. Though I don't think it would stop the rubber neckers.
Hiya, I bought a BMW 3 series last year. Because of the many problems the car came with, the dealer offered me a 'free next service.' I got this in writing as well.
However, that particular dealer is out of business but one of their other franchises is still up and running. So it is the same company. The only difference is like someone owing several shops and closes the one you bought from.
The dealer is saying the sales rep has left the company and should have not agreed to the free service even hough it was countersigned by his manager and this person has too left the co.
As I have the agreement in writing, where do I legally stand?
Thank you. Read more
They called me about 10:00hrs at work avd agreed carry out the service. The lady was very helpful & apologised for wasting my time
Can I presume you are going to 'mark' the oil filter and similar and thoroughly check the difference in colour of the oil, etc.
I heard the following years ago and always wondered if it was true.
The story goes that some musicians who play wind instruments have a breathing technique which enables them to exhale some air all the time, enabling them to play a note constantly if required.
This technique can be applied to the breathalyser, which means the machine is receiving a proportion of fresh air.
Unless the musician is very heavily intoxicated, he can blow enough fresh air to defeat the machine.
True or false? Read more
Definite fiction, even in circular breathing all the air has passed through your lungs.
The constant blowing out of the mouth is acheived by holding enough air in the mouth to keep blowing whilst breathing in through the nose.
Hello All,
I've just finished cleaning the car on Sunday morning, and whilst doing it came across a number of chips in the paintwork. these are on the bonnet, Roof and bumper. I know that these have been caused by stones etc but im suprised that so much damage has been done.
I know little about paint but the way it seems top be flaking off its almost as if it wasn't applied properly?
the car is a year old and has done 19K. Most of this driving is down A roads with little done on motorways.
Is this just normal wear and tear to be expected or does anyone know if this is a problem common to audis?
when the car was bought new i declined the "autoglym "? paint protection. Perhaps this was a mistake? Read more
I have the same problem with both our VW's - especially birds. Even cleaned off the same day they go through the paint.
The Golf we had (53 reg) had water based paint but was more resilient. Either that or the birds are getting more powerful.
Just found a burn mark through to the primer on my 57 Passat.
Thanks, my name's probably on the 'red list' now.
This is surely the legal precursor for some other terrible change which they have foreseen will lead to a big increase in court cases for motoring issues. Read more
CGN, there's an explanation linked to the petition sign up page.
My take was that on the one hand, the celeb clients of Mr Loophole who get off will not be able to recover their costs from the public purse; on the other, many more innocent motorists ineligible for legal aid will just pay a fixed penalty, knowing it will be the cheapest option even if they win.
