If you're feeling really brave, you could loosen all the wheel nuts/bolts a couple of turns on the wheel affected, accelerate hard in first gear for a few yards ONLY and then stand on the brakes as hard as you can.

If that doesn't work, you can throw it hard into a corner each way, left and right....

We plan on getting a second hand car (2006ish) for the family. One of the main requirements is that in 5 seat config it has as much room in the boot as possible.

Now the Touran is listed as having 695litres which is lots more than the Galaxy. This confuses me as the Galaxy appears to be larger?

Anyone seen both of these cars and comment on the (standard) boot space?

We'd also be interested in the Grand Picasso but they just a bit out of our price range (£7-8K) at the moment... Read more

I think you're perhaps confusing the boot volume with rearmost seats up and down, as most reviews quote the two?

Hi, since the availability of HD on Freesat was announced I've been watching out for equipment that will receive it. I've been thinking about getting a new tv for a while but there's always something new to wait for / wait until the price drops! So does this new range offer Freesat HD? I'm afraid that DVI-B etc doesn't mean much to me :-(

Thanks

If you've got more than one job.

You'll have a tax code for each employer. This tells them what tax allowances you get. But your Personal Allowance will normally only apply to your main job.

To avoid paying too much tax, you can ask us to split your Personal Allowance between your jobs if for example you don't pay tax on your earnings from your first job and you're not using all of your Personal Allowance.

I have a 2.2 ST TDCI and want to know when the Cambelt needs changing.
I have seen some comments to say it does not have a belt but has a chain instead and therefore never needs changing. Is that correct. I know nothing about cars so don't want to be fobed off by a garage. Read more

It's a chain, doesn't need replacing.....

I am thinking of buying a new red (non-metallic) Audi A4.

The paint on the last red car we owned, a 1995 red Fiesta, faded badly and I see lost of older cars with faded red paint.

Any views on red paint being used on new cars now - will it still ffffade away?

Had two red cars and, as has been implied, if you wash and wax regularly, red stays red.

Appears that DriveTheDeal.com are no longer selling BMWs (atleast, the drop-down-list on their website no longer allows BMW to be selected). I can't find an email address for them on their website.

Does anyone know why they no longer deal with BMW dealers? Shame, because the last time I looked, perhaps 3 months ago or so, the discounts appeared to be in excess of 15% for e.g. 330d 3-series coupes. Read more

Looks like BMW is reponding to the observation that 'BMWs are as common as muck'!

The question occurred after I saw a marked Ford S-Max today.

Why would the police want a people carrier, I thought, until I got a bit closer and saw the legend: 'Police Dogs' written on the side.

The two rearmost side windows had been replaced with glass with three ventilation louvres.

Another thread makes mention of a police VW Polo.

What police cars or vehicles have you seen?

Marked or unmarked, it doesn't matter.

have a 2003 Renault Clio Dynamique. I have a digital display on the dashboard and the temperature seems to have gone wrong. No matter what the weather is outside cold or warm the temperataures are always in the 20's and 30's.

Also the red light indicating that 1 of my doors are open is on constantly.

Any suggestions on how to fix these? Read more

Hi es,

Had the same prob with temp on my 52 plate 1.6 Clio Dynamique +. Last winter when it was 4 or 5 degrees my car was showing 27-30! The temp sensor for the clio is in the LH door mirror, if you look at the mirror from underneath it will be black piece of plastic. I picked up another sensor from my local salvage place cut the old one out and taped the new one in! All ok now.

I've been attempting to download a reasonably large file (Virtual Box for Windows, 68.3Mb) on my Windows XP PC, but although it all appears to go ok ie. the downloaded size reaches the download size, the download doesn't actually complete - Firefox say 'a few seconds remaining'. IE7 and Chrome fail in the same sort of way.

However, no problem downloading the same file using Firefox under Linux on my laptop (same modem/router).

I tried disabling the Comodo firewall/AV, but that didn't seem to make any difference. Any other suggestions?

Before looking to buy one of these I was wondering if i'm making the right choice.
I drive probably 90% motorway journeys and usually at a steading 70 mph. I'm hoping to get around 60mpg from this car ? Is it possible ?

If not I'll probably look to an older 320d.

The only thing I'd mention is that the Econetics (I don't know if you're thinking of one) have longer stopping distances, because of the narrower tyres, I think.

May not matter to you but it was something I factored into my considerations.
