Advice needed.
The car is barely 6 months old, but in the past 2 months the ABS warning light has come on 3 times, most recently today. In all 3 instances, it has been a case of the light not going out after the car has been started. To solve it, I have to pull over, turn the engine off and back on again, drive a few metres and out it goes.
Before I take it back to the dealer, any suggestions as to what might be causing this annoying fault. A faulty sensor, perhaps? Whatever way, it's not what I expected from Hyundai!
Cheers,

I'm a long time lurker, but this is my first post...
My father is interested in purchasing a Hyundai i20, which recently received a 5* EuroNCAP rating, on the basis that it has stability control (ESP) as standard. The EuroNCAP webpage shows the i20 as having ESP as standard across the range in the UK, and most early reviews of the car stated that ESP would be standard from February.
Yet, Hyundai's own webpage shows ESP as a cost option across the i20 range, and even states that "ESP is Special Order Only. Please be aware that Hyundai Motor UK Ltd does not hold stock of these derivatives, therefore factory lead times apply. Please contact your local dealer for further information."
What's going on Hyundai?
My father is seriously considering spending the extra to get a 1.4 Honda Jazz, with 5* EuroNCAP and standard stability control...
Do any backroomers know what's happening ESP wise? Read more
One of my wife's relations has bought one under scrappage (his perfectly good 1.8 Mondeo having failed on emissions). I haven't been in it but it is extremely quiet from the outside. Most refined-sounding cheap small car I have noticed.
Hi
The fan on my TDCi is not working. This means my air con works only when I'm on the move. Stop in traffic and it goes off and warm air.
I've been chasing this prob for a few weeks now and it's really starting to bug me. Somebody on the Mondeo forum said replace the fan switch. Prob now is parts people say they don't have a fan switch, Mk3 ECU does all that???
I've had it regassed, and its ice cold on the go, so it's not that. I've changed the low pressure switch, not that. On advice that it's been a cause of identical problems, I've tried a new 60amp fuse, but it made no difference. I also read on this forum that take out the relays and the K45 and K46 and the fan should kick in anyway. Well, I've done this, and nothing happened. Could this mean the fan is burnt out?
I also keep reading people talking about two fans, high speed and low speed, but my car seems to have just one fan?
Last point, one guy with the same problem says he fixed exact problem by replacing the fan controler box? mounted and sold as a complete unit with the shroud and fan motor, priced £275! This is my last resort as don't have £350 which with fitting this is what it would cost? Anyone on this?
Appreciate any response on this. It's driving me mad.
Regards
RD

Looks like the electronic fan control module is at fault here.I think you are correct about it only being available as a complete unit with the fan motor.May be a good idea to see if it is the same as a Jaguar x-type diesel unit.Sometimes the jag equivalent part is cheaper.hth
Just about due to replace pair of front Michelin Primacy's. I am told that there are pressure sensors incorporated with the valve. What are peoples experiences with tyre fitters and these sensors, called in a kwik fit earlier and they said they left the valve and just replaced the core. Read more
I was told that one of my valves was faulty
" 'ere look at this funny valve I've just cut off!"
Hi All,
I'm trying to find out what alloys will fit a trafic, same as Vivaro, Primastar. I'm not needing van load ratings as i'm not using the van for bulding work or carrying heavy loads. I want to find out if any car alloys fit ie BMW, Audi, VW etc. I have been told VW transporter wheels are the same is this true? Also X5 BMW wheels fit?? Can anyone help???
Thanks Read more
Yes, this is something i would do anyway, unless the wheels were very cheap then would want to claim for them.
Reasonable or not?

Hello,
I?ve been a long-time lurker of this forum, but have only just got round to registering. Anyhow, I?m in the process of buying a new Hyundai (an i30 estate, diesel, comfort spec) from a Hyundai dealer. It?s the first time I?ve bought a ?new? car (actually, a pre-reg but it will apparently only have a few miles on the clock). But I decided to take advantage of the scrappage scheme to get a reasonable discount off the i30 list price by trading in my old banger.
About a week ago, I paid a deposit of 500 GBP by credit card and the salesman said he?d arrange for the car to be delivered this week and then I?d pay the remaining balance by debit card. Today he phoned to say the car?s arrived, and now he requires payment for the full amount. ?Fine?, I say, ?I?ll be down to collect, pay the balance and then drive the car away?. ?Oh no?, he says, ?it takes 2 days for our bank to process the payment and us to do the paperwork, only then can we hand the car over to you?! I offered to pay by bankers draft but that apparently means I have to wait 7 days for payment to be processed. He was adamant that this is the case for all new Hyundais, and I got the impression it was only Hyundai manufacturers that did this. I reluctantly agreed to go in early next week to pay the balance, and then wait 2 days for the handover. But I?m annoyed that this convoluted process was not mentioned prior to me paying the deposit.
Just seeking some advice from anybody who?s bought a new Hyundai recently to see if this is the way it works when you buy a new car these days?.Thanks in advance.

My dealer told me I could pick up the car on the day I pay by direct-debit.
Please help!
None of the clocks on the Instrument Panel/Cluster are working, not even the fuel. The only thing working is the LCD milage counter.
When I bought the car the rpm clock wasn't working but I didn't bother because you can leave without it. But a few months later the rest of the clocks stopped working too... I had some fuse problems because there was water in one of the tail ligths but I'm not sure if that caused the problem.
Any ideas? Can it be fixed or do I have to buy a new Instrument Panel?? Read more
The diesel has a different cluster.
Nobody scraps a workable 1.5D because they're so efficient. The petrol versions are usually written off by the Nation's youth.
Get someone proficient with a multimeter and a soldering iron to re-work your existing cluster - it's a quick enough job.

Hi Guys,
I have looked at the new VW Scirocco 2.0 TSI with DSG gearbox, but feel that the prices are still too high. And after putting on moderate extras I am looking at a price of around £24-26k, for the same money I can buy a Porsche 911 (996). I have seen 2 on 2002 or 2003 plates and both vehicles I am told have full Porsche service history and have done close to 60k mileage. The garage also gives a 12 months warranty & 12 month AA Assistance - what is this.
I appreciate the costs of running such a beast will be big, but can you advise me what should I also be looking out for when I go to inspect them.
Cheers Stu

I've owned 38 cars of all shapes & sizes + I used to road-test 5 cars a day 6 days a week when I was 'in the game' but ... if there's one critter that stands out from all of em - its the 911 - pure - unadulterated - adrenalin :)
Hi,
I have a 1.8 1999 Focus TDi with a self diagnosed fuel pump problem.
The car cut out and will no longer start. It turns over fine but is getting no fuel.
I've done the obvious things and it would appear to be the fuel pump.
As this is a major unit and usually mapped to the cars ecu / immobiliser I am enquiring about having the unit reconditioned.
Has anyone any experience of using these people?
wwwDOTdieselpumprepairsDOTcom (replace the DOT with a . )
Or can anyone make any recomendations other than ford as to who I could have look at the pump?
Anyone else have any ideas? If I can't take this route I think the car maybe scrap!
Thanks

thanks for replies.
I've done more research and had a good look at the situation.
everyone I've spoken to so far wants 4 figures to fix (without even looking at it!!!!)
doesn't inspire much faith as I know it could be something which is far cheaper to fix than that even at £50 per hour.
If I swap the whole pump I know it will be immobilised until someone can reprogramme the ECU to match the new pump. Ford can do it but they just refuse to here in France and there seem to be no black market ecu programmers in the area (maybe I didn't mention that's where the car is!)
I could swap the pump for a recon and swap the pump edc over so it's not immobilised (it's not too tricky a job) but if it's the pump edc thats gone then I've got nowhere.
I think I'm going to risk sending my edc to those guys and see what happens.
If they say it was bust and fix it then it should be problem solved.
If they say it's ok then I'll try and source and 2nd hand pump and put my edc on it.
To be honest it all looks a bit of a long shot to me.
I will keep this thread updated just for anyone else who has the same problem.
once again thanks to anyone who has offered advice.
#### ONE LAST QUESTION.####
What equipment would ford use to get an error code from my car ECU regarding the pump?
It's an area I know nothing about.
cheers
M

if the ABS warning light is coming on then there is a problem with the ABS system - you need to go to a garage and get the fault codes read.
>A faulty sensor, perhaps?
perhaps.
