I have had 1.9tdi diesel from new, just filled the tank with disel which "leaked" over the garage forecourt. This problem only occurs when the tank is filled up and not when it is partially filled. I have had the seal on the fuel pump replaced but it hasn't resolved the problem. Read more

Just looking for a quick opinion on this.

My current Audi A3 is on a PCP and will be returned next month. It's on long life servicing, and it just happens that the service indicator is showing that the service will be due as the car is due to be returned. The condition of my contract is that I have to have all required servicing carried out.

Now, as it happens my new car may come early so I could potentialy return the car a couple of weeks earlier than planned (still making the last payment) and before the service is due - saving myself £250 - £300.

Others have told me that as long as the service is not yet due there should be no problem doing this, but I just wondered if anyone had any experience of this, and / or anyone has returned a car to Freeway so knows how strict / fair they can be Read more

Ian - my partners car clicked overdue a few days before its last service - message changed from service in X miles to SERVICE NOW

Just wondering if anyone has any dealing with the above company?

Looking for a contract hire deal but turns out the 'latest offers' they advertise on their front page don't actually exist. Well the ones I'm interested in anyway.

I realise webpages can get out of date but they should not be left for over 3 weeks unchanged.

Anyone got any contract hire recommendations?

Many thanks,

Neil. Read more

Ling,

Thanks for that info.

Doesn't have to be a performance car - it just seemed a really good deal. I was also looking at the Type S - some site are still advertising this at £169.99 and in stock - but nothing ever materialises after enquiring.

Will have alook at your website.

Neil.

The 4th gear in my Saab turbo has gone. I am looking for a specialist to rebuild the box. Some of the more popular specialists in the Saab world are just too expensive for me. If anyone knows a good gearbox workshop I,d be grateful.

replacement would be cheaper than a rebuild.

Check what primaries you have.

Hi all, had my '03 TDCI focus estate since new and has worked well until recently, but over the winter it was getting harder and harder to start from cold, yet was fine to restart when engine was warm. Then went away for a month and the car was a nightmare to start when i got back, took about 15 mins even though air temp was approx 18 degrees, managed to get approx 2 miles before engine cut out silently and would not restart, even off jump leads. When depressing the clutch prior to junctions the revs would drop to 500 then back up to 900 every 1 second and would get plumes of white/light grey smoke on start up. Used the built in diagnostic and only error code found was for coolant temp low. Have tested the glow plugs and all read arround 1-2 Ohm's, Inspected fuel lines as far as possible and appear in good order. Have always had it serviced at correct intervals and now sits on 112K miles, anybody had a similar problem as any advice would be massivly appreciated as am terrified of taking it to a main dealer as things are a bit tight at the mo.

Cheers, Monty Read more

Probably union on fuel line letting IN air overnight.Get underneath starting at tank and check. Pay particular regard to any plastic pipe connectors, ensure that they have not rubbed against chassis

just recently had a new powered steering hose and other long pipe fitted (not to sure of the name of that, was really expensive though as could only get it from fords). since this has been done i have had a strange noise which starts when the car is started and continues to become louder when accelerating in lower gears (after say 3rd gear the noise of the engine seems to drown out the noise), when on full lock noise becomes very loud.

i have been told it may be the powered steering pump as before the new hose was fitted i was running very low on fluid and have been told i have probably ruined the pump due to this. does this sound right to anyone?? i have just recently found a small leak of what looks like powered steering fluid, could this be coming from the pump or has the hose or pipe not been fitted properly? had the problem around 3-4 weeks now but not noticed any fluid since having the pipes changed.

also i have found a pump on ebay for £30, is that a good price??

thanks in advance Read more

"Alongside the One, the company is also working on a two-seat roadster called the Bee.Four that should be able to hit 60mph in under three seconds, and a 'leccy F1-style hill climb racer that will run under the famous BRM badge. If a 94 year old can make an allegedly usable electric car with a 65mph+ top speed and range of 30+ miles out of a 1987 Jetta, you would have thought that you'd see more than just the odd Prius on the roads by now.

BTW what's a 'peel out'? Wheel-spin start?

I have a dodgy fuel gauge and I stupidly let me diesel escort run dry without realising. I have put enough in from a can to get it started but it still won't turn over. Someone has said i need to prime it - never done this before and excuse my ignorance but I don't know enough to just fiddle around. Where do I find the pump when I look under the bonnet and generally how long do I need to pump it for?

If it still doesn't start (in anticipation) any ideas why?

Thanks! Read more

Do not over stress the button. It is 11 years old and the rubber may slit and priming will not happen. Regards Peter
