Rattle

I am quite shocked by this, I drive downt his stretch of road about 2-3 times a week and is only 2.5 miles from where I live.

www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/s/1112627_hol...c

I drove down this just half an hour before, I remember being stuck in traffic behind a police van I just feel so lucky I set off when I did and if I didn't have a car there was a good chance I would have been on the bus which went over it :(

It is nice to see our raod tax goes on inspections to ensure roads don't just fall in. Read more

There are pictures of the hole in the road that Rattle mentioned on page 23 of today's Daily Mail. In the top left picture there is a blue Corsa. Is this your new car Rattle?

Time for a service again on the faithful Colt at my friendly independent. I'll usually go and buy the parts (what few it needs) from the main dealer.

Always like to check the prices before handing over the reddies so asked for the price on a Oil Filter for an 06 Colt 1.1 After a couple of minutes guy comes back and says £4.52 + VAT

Jaw dropped in amazement, how cheap is that, the best I could find on ebay was £13 for the same filter. Just goes to show that sometimes dealers are good value for cetain things, indeed 2 years ago the price was £5.59+Vat so its actually gone down.

Now Mitsubishi if you start selling the Colt CZ2 with the 1.1 engine and add some side airbags for about 7k I may just be back to buy a whole car next time :)

Off to go and by some oil from Halford now, thats cheaper than 2 years ago too! Read more

I've recently purchased a secondhand car on finance and the car has been plagued with fault since I bought it.
I've owned the car for four weeks now and I've only had use of it for six days as the rest of the time it's been in dealers being repaired. The car is covered by the manufacturers warranty so it's being repaired by one of their dealers.

I've read somewhere in the past that I can contact the finance company with regards the car and there is a way of returning it as it's faulty. I've contacted the finance company and they've told me that they'd send some paperwork through for me to read and tat was it, they didn't offer any more assistance.
Is it worth calling the finance company and telling them that I'll cancel my Direct Debits until the problems are sorted or is this a no-no? Read more

I have a year 2000 Rover 45 Automatic which I bought 18 months ago. It?s suffered from the same fault since I bought it: it rarely starts first time, needing between 2 and 10 attempts to turn the engine over before it will start. Then, once the engine is running, it stalls as soon as I put the car into Drive. Once I?ve been through that whole routine at the start of the day, it?s fine. I took it back to the garage a few times after buying it, but they always claimed it started for them, so they couldn?t diagnose the problem. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? Take it back to the garage and let them keep it overnight and then they can cold start it the next morning.

Ever smile when you`re motoring? - to other people that is. Or do you go for what seems to have become the `standard British sour face?

I remember a grim Winter in 1987 and driving through slow moving traffic in Bradford city centre. People standing waiting for buses with faces that looked like they were on Death Row - and their milk had gone off.

I remember saying to Fiona as the 2cv crept past " for goodness sake don`t smile".

Smiling can get you into trouble, best not to walk throuigh a city centre with a smile on your face - look grim, it`s safer.

Back in 84, in Ipswich (of all places) a beaming smile straight at me from a young woman driving slowly past, in traffic.

Ever smiled when you hold your hand up to say `thanks` for letting you through. Sometimes a smile back, sometimes a face of utter sourness as the personality behind the lips thinks you have put one over on them by getting through.

I find it a struggle not to smile, but it can get you into trouble.
Stop smiling....

Smile?

Making eye contact is sufficient in my neck of the woods to instigate road rage - so smiling? Heck!!!

If you make a hand signal you had better make sure a very clear '4 fingers and 1 x thumb' are visible too!

Just bought a bonnet from a car breakers.

The salvage yard has written on the bonnet, stuff about the make & model etc.
There is some small lettering in white, looks like they used tippex. Also some larger lettering in yellow.

Whats the best way to clean this off? I was thinking of a plastic scourer...

Thanks

Sounds like you need to change both oil and mechanic.

Hi I want to fit a new fuel filter but it has no primer on the filter how do you prime the fuel system Read more

quizman

If the TDDI is the same as my now departed TDCI you MUST fill the filter with diesel, because it is not self priming.
I know this to my cost because I asked my local garage to change the diesel filter when I was having an MOT. The idiot mechanic did not fill the filter and spent an hour trying to start it with easy start stuff. The battery went flat and he used jump leads. Still it wouldn't start so he towed it for about a mile before it fired up.
Shortly after the DMF went kaput.

So if it is the same as a TDCI you must fill the filter before you try to start it.
