Hi,
I have a big problem. My 54 reg Astra wont start and when a mechanic does get it started it wont go into to gear. Its clear I have a problem with Eastronic but I have done a bit of checking on the internet and people have a similar problem but they get an F warning light but I dont, the fault warning light is on but that is all. To make matters much worse I am in the forces and posted to Italy and given half a chance the locals will bleed me dry. can some one please help. Read more
Hi all,
I recently had all my tyres checked and aligned as neccessary at a local tyre place, on a Golf MK5 1.9TDI. The rear left camber showed up off limits before AND after the alignment. It shows as -1.53 degrees and limit is -1.47 degrees, so -0.06 degrees out of limits.
The rear left shows -1.37 degrees before and after. The place said the rear camber wasn't adjustable on the Golf MK5, although it did show at -1.49 degrees before the test? I have also since found out that the rear camber can be adjusted...
Could adjusting the toe slightly on the rear right also affect the camber by 0.04 degrees?
I paid them GBP65 and they gave a print out, adjusted the front toes, adjusted the rear right toe. Is this reasonable for the work done on a Hunter DSP600 4 Wheel laser rig? Also, with the camber being out of limits by 0.06 degrees, should I be concerned about this or is it just too miniscule to be concerned about?
Thanks guys. Read more
It would be great if someone could help me out with this problem, it would really be much appreciated.
Basically, I get a buzzing from the driver side front speaker. The car needs to be have been driven for at least 10-15 mins before any buzzing occurs. And then the buzzing only happens when I have the right indicator on (it buzzes in time with the clicks) or if I have the headlights on (constant buzz). And I also get a 'quick' buzz whenever I release my foot off the gas! Very strange!
I can stop the buzz by slapping the dashboard! (although, this sometimes makes it louder!)
Any ideas please?

A bloke on the news the other day said that the Gov't. plan to effectively give up to £2K in incentive to get people to buy a new or nearly new car was excellent, as people would "change their polluting older cars for newer greener ones".
I can't see that, myself - taking a representative selection of cars new in the year 1999, and comparing them to new ones now, is there a significant difference in terms of emissions? I shouldn't thing the MPG has changed much....

As the Times points out today, if this is effective it will serve to put money mostly into the hands of foreign owned companies with workforces abroad.
That's a special kind of genius isn't it?
Hi guys,
My brothers car (again) has got a leak on the steering rack where the steering column goes into the rack.
I,ve put some Wynns stop leaks stuff in the resevoiur but to no avail, the fluid still comes out.
Any tips on getting this rack out, and can it be overhauled? Not sure yet if it is a speed sensitive one or not (what ever that is).
(Pug has quoted over £900!!!!. Camberley A. F. £160+ Vat!)
I've just finished doing quite a bit of work on this car, Cam Belt, Water Pp, Aux drive Belt, Front Discs and Pads, Rear Discs and Pads, New indicator (and wiper) Column Switch and replacing the Oil filler Cap as this looks the most likely cause of an unidentifiable Oil leak from the top end. The Pug dealer told me that the cover that goes over the engine often comes loose and slowly destroys the effectiveness of the seal of the filler cap.
Any tips on the racks removal will be really appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation.

Hi there, i have a renault clio 1.8 RSI 1994, until recently it ran o.k, now it turns over and rarely starts, occasionally it has started after cranking for a while then stalls if foot off throttle, we replaced HT leads and they are relatively new plugs, spark is definately getting to the plugs, the weird thing is when testing the plugs for resistence two of the them are reading dead short, one is o.k and the last has high resistence! do you think 3 of the plugs need replacing? or is there another underlying issue here thats maybe causing the plugs to short? someone has suggested it needs new TDC sensor or maybe coolant sensor, but im not convinced? any help would be appreciated? My 325i (petrol, manual), 40,000 miles, has been drinking petrol oil {error corrected - DD} for the past few months. I put in 3/4 litre every few weeks when the oil level light comes on. Always check when cold in the morning. The level this morning showed oil all over the stick - even though the car has been parked for nearly a day.
It had a visual inspection at BMW main dealer last week that found nothing. I'm at the end of a PCP and really need to know if now sounds like the time to hand the car back (i would like to keep it if it doesn't sound like there's a big bill looming)
Any thoughts on what it could be? does it sound major? Read more
Thanks. Good idea. Will look into that.
Hello,
My old car is showing underseal wear in the wheel arches, and I am thinking of redoing it. I came across a brand of underseal, and also waxoil for use on other parts of the underside. Does anyone have experience of using such products(especially how to apply for best results), and rate their effectiveness? Or have an opinion on the best brand?
I am keen to keep my eleven-year-old on the road for as long as possible.
Thanks...

I swear by Supertrol, this even delayed my Renault 4 from rusting for around 7 years, incredible stuff - and it spays far better than other 'well known' products and goes further.
I use t on anything to stop rust- wheel barroes, garden tools etc. cars and motorbikes too.
My '56 Nissan Note has recently been slipping gears in Drive and reverse. Nissan Oldham cannot find any fault. Has anybody else had this problem ? Read more
Try another Nissan dealer, one who has a mechanic with experience of that type of auto.
Quite a few posts on the CRV & new car deals threads, have said it has been difficult to get a deal. I have just bought a brand new CRV from an Honda dealer and got what i think is a good deal. I used the HJ system of going well armed with as much info as you can. You know the score how much is your part ex going to realise and also what the opening bid for the car you want is set at. Use the net and whatever means you have. I found out about 3 dealers were on good targets and had achieved the first ones set. Now Honda set new incentives and double the discount. So thats how they reach the target by volume sales. I got over £1500 more than i expected for my Octavia estate and to make the deal even sweeter nearly £5000 of the CRV. I also took Honda finance at a great rate and i am also getting cashback. I got them to throw the elegance carpet mats in and gave them the order. You may ask who is this dealer. It is Westgate Honda Grimsby. The salesman i dealt with is called Ian and he informs me the deal is on until the end of the month. What is more he says he can do £3 grand off the civic , i dont know if that is good though at this time of writing. So Honda are doing deals , thought you should all know this. I don't think there is a better deal anywhere in the country at the moment. Read more

I'd rather use an experienced place with basic equipment than a school-leaver operating "hi-tech" machines.
