I own a 56 Focus 1.8TDCI. I have been told engine re mapping not only improves performance but also fuel efficiency and drive ability. Does any one know where I could find out more information.

My daughter purchased a car from a trader which came with a 30 day warranty. Ten days after the warranty expired the car has developed a fault, in fact it will not start suspected ecu or fuel pump problem.
Are there any rights that I have although the 30 days warranty has expired to get the dealer to repair the car? Read more
Does this mean dealer can come and ask you for more money after you have
paid?Just wondering if the 'elastic'approach to aggreements is ok for both partys.
Consumer law has for the past 30 years or so recognised that consumers and traders are NOT equal parties in contracts, and that freedom of contract is a myth.
Accordingly the consumer is (rightly) protected by law from dealers selling lemons and refusing to come back. Thus if it turns out to need £3k of work, the dealer will cover it, as partof the overall larger risk of doing business (i.e. he'll have to do expensive repairs to one car, but then nineteen others will be sold with no problems); the consumer is not forced to shoulder the risk, which quite plainly is far larger to the consumer than the dealer. If you do not like this, you do not sell to consumers.
could anybody tell me if there is a website to compare fuel consumption figures? ive found www.vcacarfueldata.org.uk. this gives only newer car figures but i need figures for the mk6 honda civic 1.6 vtec v 1.7 cdti thanks
Have a look at this thread below - may help. I found some older car tests on the AA website that provided this data - PU

My wifes 2002 1.6 vtec SE regularly returns 37-38mpg in day to day driving with a lot of start stopping and short runs while on a recent long drive from Belfast to Leicester (via Cairnryan with P&O!), it returned over 45mpg predominantly at motorway speeds and with the car nearly fully loaded. Can't comment on the diesel I'm afraid but would imagine it would give an additional 10mpg or so over the petrol. FWIW, my wife's car has been totally reliable over the 3 years that we've had it and is relatively cheap to service - a service and mot prep (not the mot itself though) cost £120 at a main Honda dealer last week which I thought was very reasonable.
have just found the first bit of damage on my new car - the paintwork has been all scratched off at the front below the headlight. I've only had the car since the start of July and am absolutely devastated - feel so sad everytime i see or think about it - part of me wants to get it repaired but know if i do that everytime it gets damaged it will cost a fortune and i'm far from being able to afford it! Always try to be so careful with the car but looking at my poor car i wonder if maybe i'm not as good a driver as i like to think i am!! Does seeing scratches /damage on your car ever get any easier? Latest comedy incident at the jetwash round the corner - after the guy a few months ago who polished his paintwork with Jif after hosing it down, the bloke in front of me today decided to open the back door and have a good jet wash of the inside, back seats and parcel shelf. He then opened the front passenger seat and gave the same treatment to the seat and dashboard.
Car was a nearly-new A4 estate.
Don´t know why he didn´t do the tailgate too.

I had to jetwash a BMW boot out once. It was a saloon.
I had to remove the rear lights and then put them back with a couple of loose nuts.
Remove the lights at the jetwash.
Drive the front wheels onto ramps.
Then I used a whole bottle of washing up liquid and hot jet wash.
It was because I changed the oil and put a washing up bowl of old oil in the boot because it started to rain.
I didn't use the car for some time as I had a company car too, then went for a spin in the country on a nice day. When I opened the boot it was like Exxon Valdez. After a lot of hard work it was fine, had to jet wash all the carpets in the boot with Persil and stuff!
HI,Put my lawn mower in back of car by folding down left hand back seat.It now is jammed solid and will not go back! I think perhaps the seat belt has perhaps locked on and will not release.

This a disturbing but well-made & educational video (about 13 minutes long) about motor-cycle accidents. It is posted on what I would consider to be a 'mainstream' web-channel.
At 6:07 there is an image of a motorcyle literally driven inside a car, shockingly demonstrating the energy of the collision.
It certainly made an impact on me!

Enjoy it while you can, I have no bike now (but I still enjoy a thrash on four wheels).
Hi Chaps,
Wonder if anyone can help. Just recently I've been having trouble turning the key in the ignition of my Astra and last night I spent nearly an hour unsuccessfully trying to turn it but it wouldn't budge. Luckily an off-duty AA guy was in the carpark and finally managed to get it turned before I had to get it towed but this morning it won't turn at all. He said there is a problem with the "tumbler" and that everything is loose inside the ignition. He also said this is a common problem on this car?
Can anyone advise what the likely cost is of getting this sorted and does it need to be done by a Vauxhall garage and is there anyting that will make it better in the meantime as I am now nervous about turning the engine off once it is going!!
Many thanks

Had this problem on a vectra sorted it by getting it turned to position 1 here you can put a piece of stiff wire in a small hole at the top of the barrell and pushing down will release the inner barrell. What I did was to lubricate the barrell with a light oil and smeared around the barrell and inside where it locates with a silicon grease. this rectified the barrell and have had no problem since 18 mths later hope this helps nige.......
Bit of background first, in case anyone doesn't know Weston Super Mare the main route into town is down a long, straight dual carriageway from the M5, punctuated by roundabouts for about 3 miles or so. Drove to the local sorting office on Friday along this route. Just going past the local sports centre spotted someone trundling along in his mobility scooter at about 5 mph.
What made me so incredulous was that there is a very large combine footpath/ cyclepath running parallel to this road. Does this gentleman have a death wish or just completely oblivious to the danger he was exposing himself to? The road can be like a racetrack at any time of day, and following traffic completely blocked any view of him to approaching traffic.

The same AC though !!!
My experience over several modified diesels is that driveability and performance are substantially improved and overall fuel economy is no better or worse. Certainly because you have extra torque you may not need to change down and rev the car quite so hard or long to get to the speed you want to. So that can possibly save a bit and if you don't constantly exploit the extra power that often I'd imagine you might see a small improvement. But the extra power is quite addictive and more power comes from amongst other things more fuelling so IMO it's a swings and roundabouts scenario.
