Hi All
Anyone know what Satnav is sold at Costco, I think I will go for the Tom Tom one Europe as it not too expensive and seems to tick all of my boxes, ie europe coverage, speed cameras, with or without sugar etc etc. Anyone used this one before ?
If they sell it a costco then I'll make the trip there, but as you know with costco there is no way of checking what they stock.

Meant to include it's a Navman N40i
I have been looking at these cars for a while with a view to using one for my daily 40 mile round trip commute across a mixture of good country rodes and badly potholed inner city ones. I can't make my mind up which Seat I want.
I've been a passenger in a petrol engined cupra and wasn't impressed with the ride - I note that the SE has 16" wheels and taller profile tyres.
Also, does anyone know the differences between the PD130 and the PD150 engine. Is it all electronic, or does the 150 have a bigger turbo? Again, I'm looking for the most progressive drive that suits both sprited country driving and soothes me during the stop-start section, so lower boost pressure would probably be better!
Anybody got experience of one or both types? Read more
Yes SEATS do have a much harder ride as standard than a VW, and when SEAT make it "sporty" (leon) it becomes really quite hard indeed. Add bigger alloys and the subsequent lower profile tyres it becomes rather too rough.

We all know t goes on - Someone else takes the points for a driver. Highly illegal and results in a very stiff sentences and fine if caught. Quite correctly to. If you do the crime take the pain.
But
Have you seen what happens in France and Spain. Thriving market in points being taken by other licence holders. Even adverts on Ebay. Now this is what I call a common market!

Trouble is if they change the system in the future what about all the people caught by speed cameras over the past few years? If all those people were to complain there would be a right old mess.

Just to say, this also applied to 4x4s so would have hit companies offering any off road drving experience, farmers etc etc so as I say common sense prevails.
Whilst sitting on the M25, from M1 to Junc 11 today, doing 10- 30 mph, when I was lucky, I went under several bridges with graffitti on it
Theres one with "Pixie ..........???." on it, that seems to have been there for ages.
Locally to me, in West Byfleet, there is still a " refuse cruise" that has been on a bridge wall that has been present for at least 30 years, though someone has oversrpayed it recently.
What graffiti has been spotted around, let's not include The Long man near Polgate or the horse rider in Dorset, what was the point of them anyway, and let's have a laugh. Read more
Before I left the UK there was a CND (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, for you youngsters) logo still visible on the cliffside by the A38 between Rowberrow and Churchill, south of Bristol, that had been there nearly 50 years to my knowledge.
Is it still there, Cheddar?
Hi,
I have a Corsa 1.0 (3 cylinder) on an 02 plate and very recently it has started to 'tick'.
This is most noticable at idle, but it increases in rate as the engine revs increase, but will then stop until at an idle again.
Careful listening has narrowed it down to the hinge area of the drivers door.
Does anyone know if there are any relays, actuators, pumps (?) in this region. Could be at the drivers end of the dash ? Could be in the wing cavity or bulkhead area ?
If it was an old BL car, I would say that the fuel pump was sticking.....
I'm baffled and getting rather iritated.....
Thanks for any ideas,
Sutters. Read more
Thanks,
That's sort of what it sound like.....
I'll have a look and let you know.....
Cheers,

There is a guy in London (lawyer don't you know!) who parks his motor cycle on yellow lines. Every time he gets a ticket, he challenges it on the basis that his bike is on a stand which causes his wheels to be entirely off the ground. He has had 100 tickets and failed in each case. Why doesn't he give up? One interesting point which comes to mind though......what if a low loader with a couple of vehicles on it is parked on a yellow line, could all the vehicles get a ticket? I mean, their wheels are not on the ground either. Read more
Agreed DVD - sounds like an urban or t'internet myth.
Something that someone said on the Citroen C6 thread made me think - are journos doing us any favours by being over critical if a car is say comfort bias or value bias etc?
Value for money seems to rarely come into it anymore and the expectation is that a car costing five grand should be compared to a ten grand car. A city car should apparently ride and handle like a sportscar/limo and have the performance to match.
This annoys me often because we now have cars which are becoming so similar in what they offer, there is far less choice - if you want an economy based car and dont mind something with a few less frills and a harder ride, not such sharp handling and are willing to do without an airbag coming at you from every corner, there is no real option - why? Because we are told that the car should be good at everything and thats just not possible.
I wish there was an acceptability of a car being average in some ways to enable it to be superb in others.
So the C6 doesnt handle like a go-kart! Big deal, if you wanted that you would buy something else, but if you want to be isolated from the world and have your journey as cosseting as possible, why shouldnt a car maker produce a car that is more comfort biased?
And on that subject, if we are to be spend more time in traffic jams and suffer more and more pot-holed roads, I know id rather be isolated from it then thumping down a pothole every few minutes while I inch home through traffic just because I wanted handling so good that it cannot be legally exploited on the road.
It just seems like car makers are being driven into making cars so generic, they just end up average at everything. How on earth did we end up with 4x4's that look the part but wets its sump guard at the thought of a piece of grass?
Am I the only person who wants to see more cars which have a true talent at the expense of being average ( though acceptable ) at other things? Read more

Was watching the police tracing a few stolen cars on "road wars" last night. The equipment used in tracing these stolen cars seemed to be very low technology and, if I am not mistaken was achieved by plod driving around and listening to a radio signal getting louder as they got closer to the stolen vehicle.
Surely with modern technology the police could be directed to the stolen car much the same way as we find our way around using satellite navigation.
They would then be informed "arrived at stolen vehicle" instead of destination. Read more
I would agree that that might be a useful stick to beat them with.
