Hi

Just wanted a bit of reassurance really. I have found the perfect Mk5 GTI, its an 06 plate in the spec I wanted (sat nav and ALL the toys!!) with 4k on the clock. (so probably ex demo).
Anyway, the only downside is that there is a few scratches on the left corner of the front bumper, it obviously scraped some kind of wall at some point. It is mint in every possible way everywhere else.
VW have assured me this will be rectified by them and will never know it was ever there. Obviously, i can only take their word for this, so just wanted to know if anyone has dealt with main dealer bodyshops and if they were the best out there? Should I not worry?

Just had a courtesy call- It definitely won't be a smart
repair. It'll go through the "VW approved bodyshop" whatever that is!

That question does not warrant a reply. As indicated earlier in this thread - stop worrying unecessarily about what is an 'everyday' repair as far as cars go.

Hi there, I've just bought a 96 Megane, everything is great except for a couple of things. Firstly, it judders quite a lot while driving, could it be a slipping clutch? Also, the clock doesn't work, not a big problem but I'd just like to know why it's not working, could it be just a fuse? Read more

Thanks. Well I took it into garage today and it is now fixed. From what you say it could well have been the coil, but I'm not sure. The mechanic said it was a pipe that needed replacing and it cost me 40 pounds.

I have a 2000 reg Saab 93 and have had problems getting it to start since exact date the mass air flow sensor was replaced a couple of months ago. Last week it wouldn't start at all and I am now told it needs a new diesel injection pump which is pretty costly at £1250!!!

Does anyone know if these two things are linked or is just purely coincidence? Changing mass air flow sensor did make huge difference in terms of power mind you.

Also, what are chances of picking up second hand injection pump if anyone knows? Read more

heres one to tax peoples brains, I nedd to make up a simple circuit that is live when the ignition is on and engine running but will go dead if either the key is turned off or the engine stalls. Im sure there is a way to do it and Im almost certain its something to do using some sort of circuit that is live until and earth is created elsewhere to complete another part of it, thus enabling the simple use of an oil pressure switch. Does anyone know how to do this?

The basis for this is an engine that runs on carbs and single point coil with dizzy. I need to cut the fuel pump in the case of engine stalling etc.
I tried using a relay triggered by the coil's negative but this didnt switch off when the engine cut out, it appears the negative is still live. Read more

ues a five pin relay and use the oil switch as an switch earth and wire the relay contacts back to front ie: turm 30 to fuel pump 37a and 86 to feed 37 to starter and 85 to oil switch

Hello,

I am looking to change my car and am a bit unsure as to what to change it to. I have a budget of around £4000 and would prefer a nippy car if possible. I have looked briefly at the Ford Focus Zetec ESP 2.0. Are these any good? - reliability, performance etc. Can anyone recommend any other cars that match the criteria above?

Thanks Read more

I had a 2003 3dr Focus 2.0 Zetec as a company car and loved it - quick [ish], handles well, looks good and very reliable. I'd definately recommend one.

I'm not sure there's much else to come close in terms of allround ability for that price.

Just changed all the brake pads on my Rover 75. Can't get brake pad wear warning light to go out. Have checked all electrical connections again, and made sure there is enough brake fluid in reservoir. Any ideas? Read more
