Going up through the gears, particularly between slow gearchanges, if the engine isn't revved hard the revs drop below tickover making for a jerky gearchange. Also when slowing down and taking the car out of gear, the revs fall to as low as 450rpm before picking up to normal idle. Any ideas please? Read more

results .....
1st test co 2.144%
2nd test co 1.756%

lambda :
1st test .953
2nd test .963

i have been told by the garge to replace the cat but other people have just said it needs a good run and a bit of a service.. and for the brakes just strip the pads off and give the calipers a good clean!!!
if any body has a few pointers that would be great Read more

Damfine you are right, it does just need a damn good blow out out.

Just before the MOT, take it for a run on a dual carriageway, get it hot, then rev it hard a few times till the rev limiter cuts in to blow it out, then run it again on the dual cariageway at 4,500 rev MINIMUM. for at least 1 minute.

that will clean it out. and your co and lambda will be fine

The brakes however sound shot, you need them looked at by a garage

I have come to think over the last few weeks that the headlights on my vectra don't seem to be that good when compared to other cars I have owned. They just don't seem to be that bright or have that good a range.

I would like to fit brighter bulbs, so would like to know if I am able to do so and if I can is there any type/brand that I should look out for. If anybody can shed any light on this that would be great.....(!)

Thanking you in advance,

Hi,

Just this minute looking at a polo 1.0L on ebay for my sister, 95 N reg. 150 quid seems to good to be true. mileage 79K

Ive just asked the seller about the cambelt if it had been done or if it was due.

He replied back that it had been checked and it was fine

Does that sound OK, just want second opinion. I mean cars 12 years old and i would have it to have been change at least once

Is the any other questions you could advise me to ask, the auction end is on Sunday

Thanks Read more

Can anyone point out a source of an aftermarket soundproofing kit for a Toyota HiLux diesel ?? Read more

David Horn

Would have thought the only way to soundproof a HiLux would be to remove the engine and tow it behind.

Question hdi injectors
scfc_151

my friend has come across an accident damaged 406 hdi 110 and fancies breaking it for parts. Im interested in the injectors but was wondering how to safely take them out? I haven't looked at the job but i was wondering if theres any special technique or tools?
Also are there any washers that would need replacing on refitting?
Im use to the straight forward ones on a 1.9td engine

Im about to throttle someone right about now!

I just noticed under the mud on the sills of my van, a huge rust patch.

Now I know that I cleaned it the day before it first went in the shop and it had no damage whatsoever to the sills.

Having cleaned away the mud and having looked at the rest of the sills, it appears that it was incorrectly jacked up on the sills rather than jacking points which in two other places has cracked the paint and is also starting to rust.

The rust patch however looks as if someone has ground away the damaged paint and then left the bare metal to the elements.
Its recent as there was still some bare metal showing through.

I just dont know what to say anymore - this whole saga has been a nightmare, start to finish!

I didnt notice it when I picked up the van because it wasnt one of the damaged areas and I didnt look. Unfortunatly ive lost my comeback as a result.

I just cant believe how badly this company operates.

Ive had to start repainting it myself before it gets any worse.
Luckily, in the summer I am planning to repaint the sills in much thicker paint to protect them longterm ( any suggestions as to what paint to use welcomed ), but even so, I am furious!! Read more

Possibly use Finnegan's Smoothrite?

You certainly have had a lenghty trail of bad luck - hope it all ends satisfactorily.

i have a '93 saab 9000 2.3i. Sometimes, particularly when the car is hot especially after say being on a motorway then slowing down, when moving off from a standstill drive is lost then suddenly comes in with a bang and we're off. The other day in traffic it got so bad that i could not get up a hill and had to leave the car for 20mins before it cooled down and drive was regained. The fluid level in the gearbox is slighly above the high mark and is a light yellow colour. I have had a similar problem on another auto but that was a fuid leak and easily recified by topping it up!

Any idea? Read more
