cannot undo petrol cap on my escort - baldyclayton
hi hope someone can help me i have a j reg escort and i am unable to undo my petrol cap with my key. I have tried spraying wd-40 into the lock but it still will not open itr nearly goes all the way but stops short thks

You're going in the right direction with WD-40. Keep trying and wriggling the key and eventually it will come (don't be tempted to force the key with pliers).

You then need to either buy a cheap replacement lock from a factors or undo the circlip on the back of the barrel and replace the barrel. If you go for the latter ask www.gbmparts.co.uk to build you a new lock from your key code (see www.fordscorpio.co.uk/doorlockbld.htm to read the code). Mine was roughly £25 all in a year ago.

If your still stuck water pump pliers will get it off!! or a hammer and a old screwdriver through the lock and twist will remove it!! there only about a £7.00. good luck.
