"Businesses need to be prepared for the fact that the forthcoming smoking ban in England applies to company vehicles. The ban - similar to the one that has been operating in Scotland for some time - comes into force on July 1, and it's generally thought of as applying to public buildings. But it also applies to work vans, company vehicles, lorries and tractors, and company bosses are being urged to note that some preparation is required."

Hi,

I seen a few adverts in a well known web-site / magazine {that carries both both private and 'trader' adverts} for Saab convertibles.

900 and 9-5 2.0 and 2.3

Many say they have three, 3 point fixing rear seat belts.

So, can they seat 5? I have 3 children and may just consider a late 1990s / early 00s version if they can seat my 3 kids, 6, 8 and 10 years.

I've looked on a few web-sites but I cannot find an answer.

A Saad dealer near me is advertising a few Saab convertibles of this vintage.

I may take a peak next week.

Thanks all,

>> The Three Boosters problem is tough enough in a big saloon
or estate car - my S60 is wide but won't take
three. There's scope for another thread here about non-MPVs that
can take three across the back.

It's down to the booster seats as much as the car. Volvo do a very slim booster seat for 15kg plus kids. We have (had - I sold it at the weekend) no problem getting 3 of theses seats across the back of our W211 E-class estate.

This Volvo seat doesn't have a name or number but the backrest is detachable for when the kids only need the base, and this also helps on those occassions when full size passengers need to be carried in the back and the seats can easily be dismantled and put in the boot without filling it.

I was amazed at the lack of interior width in the back of (current model) Shogun yesterday. We couldn't fit 3 Maxi-Cosi seats across the back of our friends Shogun where they fit SWMBO's C8 with ease.

I have an 'S' reg diesel manual estate that has done 120000 miles now so feel a change of oil is due.
Am I right in thinking that the box is refilled through the level plug on the front face of the 'box? Can see no other way.
What is the best way to do this please, squeezy bottle and a rubber pipe maybee?
Any ideas welcome as it looks a bit of a fiddle.
Thanks, Vinnie. Read more

Not sure if this will help, but we've got the Leon T FSI FR with the same 200bhp engine that you would pay a heck of a lot more for in a Golf GTi, Audi A4 or TT. It's a great engine, and without DSG is listed at £500 cheaper than the Stylance. Same kit as the Stylance IIRC from the brochure, with the minor addition of a few sportier bits eg. FR seats and gear knob.

The turbo gives it a wide spread of torque, so like the diesel you don't need to rev the pants off it. But if you do, there's still something there higher up the rev range. Fuel consumption is not bad considering, but of course it's some way off the diesel. Check you don't mind the firm ride though.

The car feels solid, although the interior would benefit from less plastic. Looks great in metallic black- no doubt the Mazda is a good car, but I'm afraid I do get a certain amount of pleasure just from seeing the FR sat on my drive.

The Deal Negotiator has new (UK) TFSI FRs at £15,380 (£15,833 for the Stylance), which is where we got ours from.

Just done an oil/filter change on the Almera, and used Tesco's "own brand" 10w40 semi-synthetic, as it was much cheaper than Halfords brand. It doesn't particularly bother me whose oil I use as long as it's up to the right spec (it's up to API SL spec), but does anyone out there know who manufactures it? Read more

HJ mentioned in his review that there was a diesel version coming. Anyone know when this might be?

There's a restyling due in March, perhaps the range will be widened in UK.

What's the source for that info? Reports I've seen suggest launch towards the end of the year.

Spotted this today while going for a tramp in the woods near Bangor, North Wales.

Fortunately for him, the tramp got away.

I need to get some new tyres for my Megane RS225 and have decided on either Goodyear Eagle F1s or Pirelli P Zero Neros.

Does anyone have any thoughts, comments etc on the Pirellis?
I have found plenty of reports - mostly good - about the Eagles but very little feedback about the Pirellis, either from other Megane owners or on other owners forums.

I have had the Eagles before on a Clio and was very impressed with them but wondered if the Pirellis, being a slightly more modern design etc, would have any handling improvements?

Thanks

Eh?
Hangs head in shame.
I have consumed over half a bottle of 14.5% Chateau Neuf with my roasties ce soir, but that's still shocking!

"contributory", please :-)

Has anyone had a look at confused.com lately? I can't get any resonce from it.
I then went onto a couple of other sites, 1 insisted that I had put my phone number in incorrectly. I live in London, my number is 020 8xxx xxxx. An 8 digit proced by 020 for London.
I then went to another site, where it wanted the registration number of the vehicle, I hav'nt bought it yet. It then threw me back to the begining of the BLANK form.
Why can't these sites get sorted so as to help ME, Joe Public? Read more

Used Confused in the past. Very happy. Owing to a glitch on their siteon the day I wanted to renew my insurance, I decided to use MoneySupermarket instead. Even more pleased, as they seemed to have far more insurers on their books.
In the end though, I took my cheapest quote from MoneySupermarket to ChrisKnott Insurance, who took another 10% off the quote to go with them. As they are a Kent based broker with real people in a small office, I was very glad to give them the business.

I have had a Primera 1.6 Si for 3.5 years/60K miles now.
Little bit under powered up hills but pretty good/comfortable to drive and does 40 MPG on mixed driving.

I replace the filters and plugs every 20K and the oil and oil filter every 6-7K.
Always use genuine Nissan parts. Too cheap not to.

It is up to 127K now.

For continued reliability is it worth changing
The manual gearbox oil.
I saw that 75W-85 is recommended on here. Very occaisionally it is not keen to go into first/reverse.

The brake fluid.
It has not been changed since I have had the car. Last MOT my local Independant replaced a small section of corroded brake pipe and said it was not necessary. The brakes work very well.

Anything else?

Doubt you'd get it "good as new" after that TBH. It's interesting you didn't care to mention this fact when discussing the damage with the engine earlier in this thread.
