Not sure if this will help, but we've got the Leon T FSI FR with the same 200bhp engine that you would pay a heck of a lot more for in a Golf GTi, Audi A4 or TT. It's a great engine, and without DSG is listed at £500 cheaper than the Stylance. Same kit as the Stylance IIRC from the brochure, with the minor addition of a few sportier bits eg. FR seats and gear knob.
The turbo gives it a wide spread of torque, so like the diesel you don't need to rev the pants off it. But if you do, there's still something there higher up the rev range. Fuel consumption is not bad considering, but of course it's some way off the diesel. Check you don't mind the firm ride though.
The car feels solid, although the interior would benefit from less plastic. Looks great in metallic black- no doubt the Mazda is a good car, but I'm afraid I do get a certain amount of pleasure just from seeing the FR sat on my drive.
The Deal Negotiator has new (UK) TFSI FRs at £15,380 (£15,833 for the Stylance), which is where we got ours from.
