Morning, i wonder if anyone could help me?
As most probe owners already know some have problems with the immobilisor, my partner has the above car and we know what the problem with the car is and we have the new distributor to fix the car, but before that is to be fitted we need to bypass the immobiliser... only problem is we cannot find a diagram for this ANYWHERE! .... does any1 happen to have this diagram or know where we can get hold of one? ... i'll be eternally grateful!!!

Sorry for gabbing on, but im a woman!

Thanks in advance Emma

I cant quite work out what the different numbers on the digital multimeter I bought yesterday from Henry's in Edgware road. Its a Skytronic model 600.219. The scale reads 200,2k,20K,200K,2M,20M.
Does this mean for example that the first number means you can read resistances up to 200 ohms, the next up to 2K and so on? Is 1 Meg ohm equal to 1,000,000 ohms? I know how to check resistances using my analogue meter. If anyone has got a moment to give me a quick run down on checking resistances and getting the point in the right place I would be grateful as I have forgotten how to do this. At least you dont have to zero a digital meter. Its just that I dont quite understand what the above numbers mean. Many thanks.Mike Read more

Most reliable 1996 Laguna 1.8 estate, 27000 miles and just 2 services and a couple of extra oil changes.
Damp starters, any Cortina or worst of all a 1977 Nissan. How i wish i had bought shares in WD40.

Does anyone know the likely cause of an intermittent fault with this vehicles immobiliser system?? I tohught it was a battery fault so fitted a new one. Could the transponder in the key be a cause?? Read more

Thanks for the prompt reply 'oldman' I 've just thought of that one earlier this evening and swapped the keys - it's the wife's car and I don't want the car to breakdown on her somewhere remote.

My brother and I are at odds over the way we drive. I tend to concentrate on making my driving smooth, particularly when changing gear and braking, and he insists that this will lead to more wear and tear on the clutch and brakes.

He, on the other hand, tends to make his gearchanges abrupt, saying that just dropping the clutch in means no clutch slipping.

I should add at this point that in no way do I slip the clutch when changing gear, apart from being relatively gentle when changing between low gears such as 1st and 2nd. I do admit to slipping the clutch to retain control when reversing, as idling speed in reverse is too fast to park safely.

Comments appreciated. :) Read more

The anti wear additives only start to work properly as the oil warms up.

But the different metals in an engine expand at different rates, if you look at a block that's been driven badly you can see the scour marks on piston or cylinder walls.

STOP.....Forget it. Too Much bad press regarding the Auto.

I have bought......and I await criticism, cos I have already had it from all quarters........A 97 'P' Mercedes E320 Auto. I downloaded all of the bumpf from car by car breakdown and I told myself and SWMBO that I would not buy for many reasons, all listed in cxc breakdown.. Only going to see it as my mate had arranged it. Honest to God!

Well.......Got there and I looked and I looked and I struggled to find a fault. 54K. Hardly a mark. Needs tyres soon, but I have never bought a car that didn't. All the toys work although it is only an Elegance. Goes like you know what, (shovel!) and at the money I thought, Boy, (I dream), You are a long time in your box. Took it home provisionally to 'er indoors to expect a fight and she fell.

Well it is quite nice and if................

OK.....Now go for it..Tell me why I have cocked up

After 15 years of driving only Mercs I decided to have a change. Tried the IS250 and was impressed with the engine , drive etc. Well after 3 weeks the bloom has worn off...rattles from doors( the first one started within 3 miles of the showroom) and now the dash as well.

After all the praise and JD power ratings is this a one off or is the baby lexus being built to price..?

Anyone else had the same problems with this model ..

According to tonights Stockport Express a local man (who I know slightly) has bought a G reg Sierra for £45. So far so boring.
However, after spending a further £45 on MOTing it he sold it for £915. How,you ask? By driving it to Banjul in The Gambia before selling, thats how. Could this be the answer to the new EU end of life disposal rules? Read more

Hi,

I know there are the guides for prices, but I was looking to get a 'real life' indication from you guys on what money I should be looking for on my wifes car. Looks like we could end up trading it in as she can't do without a car (work needs)...

Car is a Vauxhall Corsa 1999 on a 'V' plate. 1.2 16v Club. 5dr in Silver.. very nice car and has covered 25k miles. Has mail dealer service history and drives very well.. One previous owner We live in Essex (if that makes any difference to the price :-))

Any help? Read more

Well taken the plunge and sorted out the car situation..

Bought a Dec 2003 YAris T3 5dr 16k in silver for £5995 and part-ex'd the Corsa for £1850...

Originally offered £1450 for the Corsa, but managed to push it up to £1850.. Wife over the moon with the new car, which is being delivered next weekend to us by the dealer (as its a 70 mile round trip). Paid for it on the 'Tesco' Credit Card so loads of Clubcard Points as well (every little helps!!!).

Personally I would have liked to 'screen price' to have been lower, but at least we bumped up to trade-in price.....

Thanks for the advice...
