Just done a six month oil change on my daughters 1.4 Corsa (first one I have done as car is only 18 months old).
Lots of creamish brown foam in the oil filler. Some sites list posible cause as HGF ! ! !
Car has done less than 3k in 18 months and generally on short runs (2 miles). Will this be the cause or is there a bigger issue I need to look for (or get Vauxhall to look for)?
BTW - Did oil change on my sons 1.0 a couple of weeks ago and none in that (its runs are generally 10-12 miles when it is used.

Having virtually given up using a "world famous" service manual Im on the lookout for a website which details the correct spare parts for my car.Everything that the service manual tells me is incorrect.Must one have to take the complete car apart to identify the correct parts ? I would much appreciate any help with my search Thanks.

Hiya
I'm currently looking after a '95 Volvo 850Glt-the 2.5 20V saloon-not T5. And would you adam & eve it, but the radio has had a hissy fit. Fine on AM, LW, cassete but FM sometime fine & then it drops to almost inaudible (can just hear voices at max vol). This usually accompanies going over a road bump & whilst it's being quiet you can here power thumps going over other bumps. Have had it out-checked all conections & cleaned. What should I be conncentrating on-aerial short at body end? Or is it just messed up? Quite interesting because the FM on my friends micra can now only get the very strongest of FM signals-neither seems to be down to any radio settings.
Thank you all.

I did not think that I could be tempted to part with the 156 for a while, but getting itchy over the 159. I might have to bite the bullet and forget all my previous declarations that my next car will be more practicle, hatch back or Estate etc.. The 159 just looks the business again.
You dont by an alfa with your head, you buy it with your heart, so now off to find where and when I can test drive one.

The estate does look great.
Have to replace the front tyres on 2004 1.8 Vectra and wondered if anyone recommends a brand/type? Currently had Firestone F680's which have been ok but not special in terms of wear etc. Read more
Firestone is one of Bridgestones stable of brands and therefore is a top quality product. The F680 is quite an old pattern and is realy only still around in the size 195/65vr15. The new pattern is the TZ200 and this is a very good product. I think you will also find that the Firestone brand is one of the most competitively priced premium products in the market.

Hi.Looking for some advice (again).Noticed that my 2004 Vectra Sri has a strong petrol smell inside the car when left running.I hadn't really noticed this until it had the Piston rings upgraded (Warranty) as it had lost oil.It isn't my imagination,my mate has also commented on this. When the car is running and the heater is on (hot),it seems to be worse.Normal, petrol leak or something else? Thanks Read more
A couple of years ago I had a car that smelt of petrol. Put up with it for months before deciding that something must be wrong. It was a crack in a plastic tube, found when bending the tube and the crack opened up.
Hi, can someone remind me of the website url that has all the wheel and tyre size combinations so I can work out the alloy-tyre combinations available for my car.

A quick forum search (putting "tyre" in the subject box & "calculator" in the message body box) reveals:-

I have replaced several master cylinders over the years due to internal rust damage despite changing the fluid occasionally. Given the escalating costs of the more complex modern variety why doesn't some enterprising accessory manufacturer come up with an adaptor for the caps incorporating breathing through an easily replaceable cartridge containing a dessicant such as silica gel? It needs a modified cap incorporating a diaphram and a sealed air reservoir. Something like a tin can with a balloon inside it. That way no new air would ever be drawn in.
Is it legal to park in a cycle lane that's separated from the main carriageway by a broken white line? No yellow lines in sight.
Likewise, can a taxi sit and wait on double yellows while blocking a cycle lane? I can't find anything in the highway code about it.
Cheers,
David. Read more
cycle lane near me just appeared, broken white line, long stretch of road, previously good for parking,no yellow lines, seems like a road narrowing measure. can i park or stop thier i dont know,so i would guess nobody really knows, but better not chance it, till we find out for sure.

Yes in theory, but how do you know they don't really stick 10W/40 semi-synth in for every service they do? I don't think the Corsa has any special VW style oil type/quality sensors. Vauxhall seem to say use a 10W/40 A3/B3 type oil in the manual.
