Alfa 159 - romeo156
I did not think that I could be tempted to part with the 156 for a while, but getting itchy over the 159. I might have to bite the bullet and forget all my previous declarations that my next car will be more practicle, hatch back or Estate etc.. The 159 just looks the business again.

You dont by an alfa with your head, you buy it with your heart, so now off to find where and when I can test drive one.

The Alfa dealer has something parked in their Hitchin showroom, under a dustsheet.

So maybe you'll get some cheese n biccies & a glass of non alcohlic chamers, as well as a test drive, if you visit them, one evening this week!!

Just been into our local Alfa dealers to have a nose.
They have a 159 2.4 JTD M (200BHP) in the showroom in Silver. Not sure about it's bum as the boot line is quite high, but front is gorgeous. Sitting in it it feels very much the sadly missed 156 SW that I had. According to a quick chat to the service manager & senior Alfa mechanic their will be Auto & Selespeed versions & the sportwagon is 2ish months away.
Yup I want one, wife muttered abount selling TR7 & using as a deposit on a shiney new 159.... Umm it's a thought.

It is rather gorgeous, isn't it? Alfa seem to be the only* people able to incorporate those little headlights properly into the design - everyone else* just seems to put them in 'old size' mouldings with lots of chrome plastic that is going to look really nasty when the silvering deteriorates.

*All right. Nearly everyone else....

romeo156, the estate 159 looks equally gorgeous and if anything more practical than the 156 sportwagon. Maybe your heart doesn´t have to rule your head after all.

I had not seen the Estate version before, I would consider this, I agree, it is equally stunning.

I now feel confident that my next car could be an Alfa!!

Just a shame that we have to go and ruin the looks of the front by slapping a registration plate on....

I've spent the past four years talking myself out of a 156 Sportwagon. Now I've seen the crude, ugly nose of the 159 on the Sportwagon version as well, maybe I'll go for a 156 anyway, preferably pre 2003, when it was really pretty.

The estate does look great.
