Sorry if this has already been discussed about sunroofs but?
I real want to spec a sunroof on my new car, but as I don?t see many other new cars with them I was wondering what affect having one will have on the value/desirability of the car when I go to sell it in a few years time?
Have sunroofs really become that old fashioned/superfluous?

If the sunroof was a metal one (does anyone still do
them?) I wouldn't have a dilema, but I'm just worried about
being able to shut out the bright sun in summer and
what the noise will be like on the motorway.

For me the light is the whole point, if it was metal I would be a lot less interested, anyway on ours they have a shutter (Mondeo) or blind (Clio) to cut the light if required.

The oil cooler on my dads mondeo has started to crack or has a hair line crack as it weeping oil. Is changing the cooler as simple as removing the 2 pipe fittng the new cooler and then turning the power steering lock to lock for a bit or is it more involved?
Help would be appreciated. Read more

You can though it does not make it true, the current Ford range has much more going for it.

Very much doubt if anyone else watches schlock movies on late night TV, but Armored Car Robbery (1950, b/w) on BBC2 at 12.50 this morning HAD NASHES IN IT! The other cars in the movie were a random collection of 30s and 40s stuff, but there were two cameo appearances by Nash police black-and-whites, brand new, in one case with an obviously falsified (by sound men in post-production) engine note, and looking like spaceships alongside the other machines on view.

Whether any police force even in the US would ever have specified Nash cruisers without being heavily bribed is a bit of a moot point. They were a cheap lower-middle-class make renowned only for their bizarre styling and notably lacking in the performance, handling or real quality departments. The wish to make the car look like a flying saucer led to the concealment even of the front wheels behind a sort of roomy skirt. Don't suppose they handled much worse than anything else of the period but they looked as if they ought to. They came in all sizes from large to enormous, but don't think they ever made a V8. Just big soft sixes. Utter American carp for which the word 'tinny' might have been invented. In my sentimental dotage though I would love one now, if I could find a decent example (always wanted an Edsel too to remind me of my days in market research). They were always very rare in this country though. Not to the British taste really. Read more

Hi.

I have a Mondeo but I would like a 2nd smaller car.

I only have a grand to spend on one so can you good people be kind enough to help me narrow my list down please.

1. I would like the car to be roomy(ish) (I'm 6ft tall)

2. It would be nice if the engine had a bit of zip to it. (My fiancée had a Ford fiesta zetec once which had a good zip to it)

3. Needs to be a 1.4L or under.

Many thanks.

Zx td volcane - bargian . Nippy car, brilliant handling.

Can be made even nippier - by tweaking fueling / boost - gives approx 115 hp. Just try to find one with bosch fuel pump (better then the lucas). Ensure cambelt changed / no gasket trouble.

Not being biased of course:)

I was wondering if anyone can advise me please. Im taking a car on a 24 hour test drive. The guy is bringing it down 120 or so miles to me tommorrow afternoon and then collecting it the following day. It is the first one i have had and i was wondering a couple of things.

1. Do i have to fill it up with petrol once i have finished with it or do they sort all that out for me?

2. Do they try and sell it hard once they pick it up again?

3. How does the bloke get home after dropping it off?

Thanx in advance for any help Read more

AFAIK MB fleet section is in Milton Keynes. Never aspired to
one myself but see them around a lot. Most of demo/fleet
vehicles carry Kn registrations.
Possibly they have a depot in High Wycombe?

>>
I've no idea what the facility is (I'm 200 miles away) but I imagine it is just a depot.

Having a crash isn't great but some cars are much better than others. The latest www.euroncap.com results are out, the KIA Cerato didn't do well (only 3 stars).

The Chevy Aveo (updated Kalos) only got 2 and the last was struck through, seems to be the worst result since the Rover 100 ! Read more

It was good to see the new Peugeot 207 get a 5 star Euroncap result though.

Just got back from the Lake District today after a week to blow the cobwebs away. Took lots of spending money, but blew most of it on parking fees!

Doesn't matter what time of year it is, pay up!
Sunday? Pay up!
Bank Holiday? Pay up!
Parking spot 20 miles from anywhere, rutted and pot-holed, pay up! (true!)
Supermarket car park to stock up on Kendal Mint Cake and humbugs, pay up!
Minimum fee £2 for up to 2 hours, you can't put in 50p for 1/2 hour.....no change given.
Was afraid to pull up behind a queue of traffic in case I had to cough up another 2 quid.

A-T - I think we're not far off each other's views really. I love it when I can leave the car at home, but public transport doesn't allow me to do this for all the reasons TVM implicitly indicated/Yes, perhaps if more people used public transport there would be more funding and eventually a better service. But I still think £160 from Leeds to London is an outrage and does nothing but push people back into their cars.- It's a similar story with local trains. From home to Leeds on the train is £3 return, but to train to Manchester which is closer it costs five times as much. Net result is me taking the car for trips to Manchester when I'd _much_ prefer to take the train but the extra cost makes it a silly choice.

Behaviour at ground level needs to change but the catalyst (and strategy) must surely come from government.
