Hi. Was looking at buying the above motor. It's done 80000 miles and is a 1999 SE model. It seemed to drive fine but wondered does anyone have any thoughts, good or bad on these. Have owned a few Audi tdi's so know roughly what to expect. Also, is there an easy way to tell the difference between the S and SE model. Thanks Read more
The 99 model year SE also has steel wheels. What the SE has over the S is Climatronic climate control, a higher spec stereo, velour trim rather than cloth, trip computer, electric front and rear windows, front centre armrest, remote central locking.
I've had a 110 SE for a while, and while it's a bit of a plodder, the turbocharger gives it a nice gentle shove when you need it and quiet motorway cruising. Mine is a manual and during the last eight months it's averaged just undr 49 to the gallon. The most I've had out of a tank was just under 680 miles before the warning buzzer sounded. In everyday driving you should get 550-600 with a gentle right foot.
It's solid enough, roomy, perfect for a family.
... a manual is roast potatoes and an automatic is oven chips, petrol is olive oil and diesel is hoi sin, a convertible is a sushi and a coupe a paella, a moped is a hotdog and a motorcycle is a phal, heated seats are sage and onion stuffing and a heated screen is christmas pudding, air con is a raspberry pavlova and a sunroof an orange mivvi, four wheel drive is kendal mint cake and ABS is imodium .... Following that theme, a Kangoo would be a bowl of bran flakes left overnight - mundane, boring, gets job done but also deeply, deeply unpleasant.
Hi
I have a P-Reg Ford Fiesta Ghia that has developed an ear-splitting (I'm not joking you can really hear it coming) front passenger side wheel squeak. The squeak doesn't occur from cold and is evident after a short drive, being particuarly noisy at lower speeds. The noise ceases when the brakes are depressed. It's going to the garage next week but I'd like some idea of what to expect, they didn't seem to think it was a wheel bearing problem, more likely something with the brakes....

Could be a stone caught in the caliper,or if it has audible wear indicators(metal strip welded to pad)touching disc. Not sure of that date fiesta?

I have a Ford in dash 6006 6 CD Changer that does not recognize cds in the changer. It worked for a while but now I have 6 cds in the changer and it does not recognize any cds. If I hit the eject button it displays " No CDs". Any ideas would be appreciated.

You can also try a re-boot by pressing the eject and
load buttons together.
They were the 2 buttons I was trying to remember.
Perusing many a car advert does reveal a large variation in spelling ability between sellers.
I am considering changing my car at the moment, but am finding an aversion to those advertised as 'reguley serviced' or 'impecuble'. I also passed on a 'Reno Laguna'.....
Am I being too pedantic?!!

Actually, Stuart, it proves my points in this thread quite well.
Mare is clearly completely illiterate and not the kind of person
one would want to do business with, but despite this handicap
manages to be a regular and well respected contributor to the

Hoi, my mother and father were married...
oh, illiterate. Not the other word.
Does anyone else think the back of a Bristol Looks remarkably similar to that of a Vauxhall Senator?! Really, what is the appeal to these cars, they look pretty awful outside, and inside is not much better. Surely you would be better off with a classic Bentley, Jaguar, or classic aston or something? (or new one for that matter for the prices they charge!!) Read more
Right SS, not a practical device really, people would notice. Bristol say, and it looks it, that the thing isn't unwieldy and doesn't have huge wings to make it that capable. What's it like though, we would love to know? So far as the bought-in V10 is concerned, Bristol have been rebuilding Chrysler V8s for years. But look, to a normal citizen this is all just what'll-she-do-mister fantasy land. Even if you could afford it you'd more than hesitate. But I have to say I would really, really like to know what the thing's like. Not sensible, but seductive somehow because far smaller and more invisible than anything else of the sort.
Hey all,
I don't know if they need replacing or not but given the reasonably low cost of doing so I thought it would be prudent to replace both front wishbones, including bushes, on my 1999 Mk2 Ford Mondeo 2.0.
I have found a source for the wishbones, but I am given two choices of size:
w/FUEL INJ SAL,EST,HATCH FITTED w/54mm FRONT WISHBONE BUSH
w/FUEL INJ SAL,EST,HATCH FITTED w/47mm FRONT WISHBONE BUSH
I have no idea which my car has, all other sources for this part don't make any mention of two different types, and nobody on MEG knows either.
Under the 47mm section, it says:
'(REPLACES EARLIER TYPE LEFT)'
'(REPLACES EARLIER TYPE RIGHT)'
Leading me to assume that both parts fit, but the later part replaced the earlier part.
Anyone got any ideas? Read more
It's harsh to say that all pattern arms don't last. Fit a good quality arm from the likes of FAI, Delphi, Firstline or Quinton Hazell & you should have no problems. I work in a motor factor & in 2 years of selling Mondeo arms, only one has come back under warranty. That's not to say that there aren't dodgy arms out there, look for a trade recognised brand & ASK if you are not sure, these are safety items after all.
Our 53 reg Focus has recently been giving a whistle at 60+ MPH coming seemingly from the drivers door seal somewhere near my right ear.
Does anyone know of this fault and if it can be fixed ? Read more
When you're driving along hearing the noise does pressing outwards on the window near where the noise is coming from make it better or worse? This then tells you which side of the slot the window goes into in the door frame has the gap. When stopped wind down the window, open the door and apply pressure to the upper, outer corner of the window frame with one hand in the opposite direction to the gap found previously, bracing the door with the other hand. Obviously don't be too brutal about this but it is one possible solution.
The other is for when the noise is actually coming from between the door and the car body and your door rubber is a hollow section. Cut a small slot in the rubber and feed in a filler of some type - a section of plastic coated clothes line was my uncle's favourite - this pads out the rubber creating a tighter seal.
I always knew bus lanes were a bad idea.
