Our 53 reg Focus has recently been giving a whistle at 60+ MPH coming seemingly from the drivers door seal somewhere near my right ear.
Does anyone know of this fault and if it can be fixed ?

How do I check this ? It looks okay by eye.

When you're driving along hearing the noise does pressing outwards on the window near where the noise is coming from make it better or worse? This then tells you which side of the slot the window goes into in the door frame has the gap. When stopped wind down the window, open the door and apply pressure to the upper, outer corner of the window frame with one hand in the opposite direction to the gap found previously, bracing the door with the other hand. Obviously don't be too brutal about this but it is one possible solution.
The other is for when the noise is actually coming from between the door and the car body and your door rubber is a hollow section. Cut a small slot in the rubber and feed in a filler of some type - a section of plastic coated clothes line was my uncle's favourite - this pads out the rubber creating a tighter seal.
