Does anyone know if there is a way of closing an electric sunroof on a Mazda 323 if the electrics fail. Most cars have a place to insert a tool and wind them back by hand but there's no mention of anything in the handbook. Ours hasn't failed, but just in case as we found we needed to do this on a previous car.
Thanks

There aren't any flaps or plastic covers. There are however, interior lights both in front and to the rear of the sunroof. I'll have a look underneath these when I get chance.
Thanks for the reply

I am looking to get rid of my ageing Fiat Seicento w-reg 67k on the clock as some problems are coming very soon ie:

Head gasket is going - approx £300-400 to repair
Needs new tyres @ £70 per corner (cheapest price as already checked) - £280.00
Brakes new discs + pads ??
Headlights need sorting ??
MOT costs - £45.00
Inusrance at £220 per year
Tax - £110
All before Feb 06

Right I have been offered the following Brand New 55 Plate Kia Picanto's for 60 months credit with 3 years warranty and 1 years insurance.

* LX for £5795 @ £27.49 per week = overall cost £7147
* GS for £5295 @ £25.00 per week (approx) = overall cost £6500 approx

Differece between the two is that the LX has aircon, remote locking and heated mirrors.

I need to know are these a good deal? as my car (Fiat Seicento SX) has also been factored into the overall cost as they seem to vaule my current car around £650 part ex

Also would it be better in getting a bank loan? - also how do you work out the interest rate based on those costs above?

Just to clarify the comment I made referred specifically to the feel of the gearchange. It still pops straight in with no fuss, but the slight clunk feels like a linkage "catching up" with the gearbox for want of a better description. It's not synchro wear, as I've noticed this on a Getz with six miles on the clock. I think it is fair comment about the cable-operated boxes not feeling too great -- I've noticed similar (though different) click/notchy effects on boxes from newer Hondas and Nissans as well, so it's not just Hyundai.

Generally I find the feel of Hyundai gearboxes to be excellent -- very smooth and light-touch, and generally they've done a good job on them but there's just this one little quirk.

Out walking last night at about 8:30pm I was nearly part of an accident. A young cyclist was making quick progress along the pavement behind me. His bike was unlit as one would expect. The cyclist and I were next to the main road and I stopped at a minor road leading off the main road for a look round before crossing. On the main road a Citroen Picasso with sidelights on was coming towards me and the cyclist. Instinct prevented me from setting off across the minor road; there was no reason for me to wait, the Citroen wasn't indicating and should have passed me to my left going straight on. But, as the cyclist launched himself off the kerb next to me, the Citroen turned left into the road I was waiting to cross, narrowly missing the cyclist who at this point was directly in front of the Citroen. How would you apportion blame? The unlit cyclist on the pavement or the barely-lit car driver turning without warning?

Cant quite seem to find that on my sat nav NW.

Don't worry, I believe that some satnavs may not get a fix when the car is switched off and parked at home :P
Is that where you left your car?

No, mine's squeezed in with the majority of other cars, on Iletrathc Street. ;D

I have noticed for a while now that the likes of the A.A. and the R.A.C. whilst travelling with a recovered vehicle on the back ,seem to more often than not, still have their beacons on, why?.
Have they forgotten to switch them off or do they have to leave them on ?
Silly question i know , but i was wondering. Read more

Get your facts right before being so quick to criticise!
A. if it's safer NOT to fit one to get a vehicle moved out of the way, 10% of accidents happen on the hard shoulder etc. and the AA when I worked for them used to have countless patrols killed/injured a year, because of complete muppets running into them.
B. Very often number plate is on the headboard of the tow truck.
C. If registered to the smae Co. its OK or at least it used to be.

Never quite sure of the rationale behind "recycling". Always seems to me the fossil fuels and other resources used to gather, ship, process and redistribute the stuff is WAY more than just leaving it be, especially if it gets shipped all the way to China!

The fault is this:

When the footbrake is used it works fine, however when I take my foot off the brake, the pedal is reluctant to come beck up to its normal position and the brakes continue to apply themselves, but do not sieze.

Only by lifting the brake pedal up with my right toe can I make the brakes come off.

On the advice of two mechanics I have lubricated the pivot point on the pedal, and then changed the brake servo. The problem persists, and my wallet is lighter by £165 - ouch!

The only thing I can think is that the master cylinder is sticking and its spring doesn't quite have the strength to push the piston out again, working against the servo without assistance from my foot toeing up the pedal.

If it is the Master cylinder, can the problem easily be recified without disconnecting it from the brake lines? eg by greasing the piston etc.

Thanks

Update.

As per usual I have rushed into fixing the problem without proper diagnosis:(

Fault, stiff pedal, which makes a lot of sense. I'm ashamed to say that the garage spotted it and dealt with it. No charge and it works liek a dream. I have been worked off my backside lately. I have just ripped up a whole floor (boards, joists the lot) and I have to put a new one down before Chistmas Day!

Being under pressure to get the Disco back on the road ASAP got the better of me.
