Hi
I am looking to purchase a toyota camry 2.2 litre and am really just asking what I should look out for when searching for one.
I know they are very reliable, and there are some good examples out there for very favourable amounts of money.
Also, from which websites can I find used camrys. There are very few advertised, and being picky I am looking for a very well kept example, garaged if possible, and light interior.
I know there is autotrader.co.uk, loot.co.uk and friday-ad.co.uk. I am can buy from the South east and london (I travel between Brighton and London) so anywhere there would be the best bet.
Thanks in advance.

Got a temperature gauge flashing up on SWMBO's 2002 A3 1.8T driver info display when started from cold the last few days. No problem with warm starts and re-starting after message appears. No other problems / obvious issues - checked cooling system - no problems obvious then or during long / short drives.
Before I spend money on a diagnosis do any BRs come across this before ? Looking to replace this car soon with a Mondeo as MrWibble Jr is soon to be delivered by Stork Express.

Could be a faulty sender? I'd try checking cabling to this, and maybe change the unit if cabling is OK. But it could be lots of things... Sorry!

El Dingo.
I've just bought a plip of Fleabay, and don't know if it's the right one for my 99 406 HDi.
It's a 2 button type, and there's a flashing red light next to the large button.
If it is the right one,how can I reprogamme it?

Hi everyone
I was just wondering if anyone who have used heated ice scrapers give me there opinions on them, I'm thinking to buy one however a friend of mine reckons they are not effective, as winter is coming I Want to be prepared (even had a bout of frost today and took about 5mins scraping to clear), I dont really want to go down the route of pouring warm (not hot) water on my windscreen etc and this looked ideal.
to give an idea, this is the sort of thing I was thinking to buy:

Wouldn't touch one with a bargepole.
Furthermore, I suspect this is a plug. Unless Wowser can convince us otherwise, his account will remain disabled.

Hi.
I bought a second hand 1996 xantia sx 2.0i last week.
And i forgot to inform the wife that she had to enter a code to operate the radio.
The result was a radio that just showed 1.66 on the display but a total freeze on anything else (no signal)
I have the code for the radio.
ANY IDEAS?

With winter well on the way, I think it might be time I gave my battery a bit of a boost. I do a lot of driving in the dark and its quite infrequent, 2 things which don't help the battery much. I got in it yesterday, after it had sat a few days (and was also bitter cold) and it didn't turn over with its usual enthusiasm. (Not just 'cos the oil is viscous, but the fuel pump sounded slow too)
Question is, which battery charger?
Practical Classics tested them not so long ago and a Sparkrite (SBC6) came out with the 'best budget buy' accolade.
Like this one, I would ideally like a one with a battery charge/charging display and the ability for it to switch itself off/convert to trickle charge once the charging cycle is complete. Also, all this for a reasonable price (SBC6 was £20). I don't want to spend that much on something i'll only use once a year
Any recommendations?

Ok folks. Thanks for those replies.
The battery is a relatively new unit being only fitted for 13 months, so I have no reason to suspect that?s a problem.
Maybe it was a one off (Haven?t driven the car since so can't comment)
Maybe it would be a good idea to check the output of the alternator?
There are a few chargers EBay which are the same as those that I mentioned earlier, and they have quite a good discount over retail prices. Plus I always think its a good idea to have a one on standby.
Anyone remember these things? I've owned a few over the years and really like them. Im considering another GTi Turbo (petrol) and probably need someone to remind me why i shouldnt (or should for that matter.
My enduring memories of both my Gti Turbo 1 and Gti Turbo 2 are a comfy, fast and sweet to drive car that gave good service. But i guess they are all getting bit older now. Read more
Oddly enough, I saw two CX's in Detroit a few weeks back.
A friend of mine owned a CX GTi Turbo in the early 90's Fantastic car but he ended up selling it when he was presented with a repair bill for the braking system which was not far off the value of the car. I can't actually remember what the problem was but it killed off his enthusiasm for Citroëns.
Hi,
A friend has the above car and says it always jumps "like she's in too high a gear" nearly every time she drives it. But this problem only occurs when it's cold. When it's warm, everything is fine "more or less". Vague I know.
Any ideas folks?
Many thanks,
Adam

This is this first time i've owned a diesel in my 21 years of driving so I dont really know much about them.
I have a 97 Mondeo TD 1.8
Starting to have trouble getting the car starting now the colder weather is here. Took about 8 or 9 goes today.I wait for the little light to go out, and do that twice before I try to start the car.
Couple of people have said the Glow plugs might need changing.
Could this be the case or could it be something else?
(Battery seems good).
If it is the glow plugs are they easy to change? (As easy as spark plugs)?
If they are can someone point me in the right direction.
Many thanks,

Thanks for the help guys. All is now done. The plug behind the fuel pump was a sod to get to like you said.
Cheers again,
Dave
Can someone point me in the right direction. I have a 2001 330d sport saloon and wish to remove the rear bumper as someone has backed into it causing a very shallow dent. I have tried looking everywhere to no avail. I thought there would have been a "how to" but I can't find it. someone must have removed one as there seems plenty on the road.
Any help would be appreciated
Regards

Try removing the black bumper trim, behind this you will most likely find two large bolts that need to be removed. Check the rear wheel arches/wheel liners for any other bolts or to remove mudflaps if fitted. With the bolts removed, pull the bumper rearward (towards you if directly behind the car), as it is probably located on slide rails.
This is how it was removed on my old E34 BMW and if I had to remove the trim on my new 330, thats how I would first go about it. I am pretty sure Haynes do a manual for this car, so that would be a worthwhile investment.
My very point. £11,000. What a buy. Focus money. Anyone had a cam belt done? How much?
