I guess when you hear of these huge fees for a
single person for a day (barristers are the same), it probably
includes their support staff?

>>

Yes - support staff - that'll be it. Like the disgraced UKIP MEP claiming £36,000 for his researcher and paying her £6,000!

As the forum seems to have disapeared from the SP Tools website, could anyone please advise if there is an ACR pod for the Rover Auto boxes and if known, what number is it ?
Seeking to test box on 1995 620SLI Auto with Sport mode ( the Sport mode is not the problem )
Thank you, Pete. Read more

Hello and thanks for the reply. I was not aware that the car was the same as the Honda Accord, perhaps, if SP do a pod for this, it will test the Rover as well. I do not have access to Jap test equipment but I do have an ACR, so if someone could come up with the pod number it would be much appreciated.
Thanks again, Pete.

I feel the need for a new toy and whilst stocking up on de-icer etc at my local Halfords, I noticed that they are selling Road Angels with Sat Nav for £499, plus it's a 10% off weekend.

Does anyone have any experience of these units? I see that the sat nav works via Postcodes which is only thing I dislike about the unit in my IS200.

My brother has got a fancy speed camera detector. The other day it started bleeping, he slowed down and sure enough a speed camera. He goes past and increases speed, then some cops with a hand held one!

£60+ 3points, you can't help but laugh.

Hi, on our Fiat Ducato LWB 1998 85k on the clock. its started to pull to one side when driving. After going round a roundabout and straightening up, the vehicle is pulling very markedly to the right. After turning a sharp left corner and straightening up, it pulls to the left. Looks like somethings stopping the steering centring after corning.

Any ideas???? Read more

I have recently read on the motorhome forums that these vans are prone to strut top bearing failure.

Fortunately I have had no personal experience of this so can't say if this leads to loss of self centering but might be worth checking out.

Hi, i have a 2002 Ford KA Collection and just recently i have experienced problems with the heaters blowing out cold air only. Does anyone have a solution? Read more

bell boy

check the electric water valve is opening by checking all four pipes are warm,i tell the wife to use her heater once a week to stop the valve seizing up as its a poor design,if its seized all you need is a pair of mole grips to remove hose clips and a new valve £45 at ford, dont forget you will lose a tiny amount of water
The valve sits on top of the bulkhead at the back of the engine

Like many here i have been driving a few years now and was wondering at what time did filtering onto dual carrageways and motorways involve forcing motorists already on said roads to brake or swerve across instead of giving way and filtering on when safe to do so?.
Now when you approach a slip and you have traffic on your right you have to watch the cars comming down the slip to see if they are going to watch your speed and then go faster than you so they can pull in front, or are they going to pull out anyway making you brake,or are they going speed up to 70, see that there is nowhere for you to go and then brake hard and wait on the slip.

I had a situation on Friday on the A48 near Cardiff which has a 'Give Way' signed slip road, it didn't stop the guy in the red beemer almost taking the side of my car off as he treat it like a motorway slip road. If it hadn't been 4.30 pm rush hour traffic on a Friday evening I would have pulled over, I left enough gap for one person to pull out but this guy was intent on following him. The driver of the J reg beemer also seemed to have a problem finding the light switch, but after a few miles he found said switch, but only moved it part way leaving him with just one sidelight glowing like a candle in the dark!

Puegeot 406 V6 year 2001 100k miles

The coil on cylinder 3 has failed two miles into a hundred mile trip. Fortunately I was right outside a Peugeot dealer and they?re fixing it now.

In the service history, it was recalled to have all six coils replaced, coil 5 was replaced three months ago in Gdansk. I know it?s only a ten minute job once the right faulty coil has been diagnosed, would I be able to do it myself in future if I carried a couple of spares? How involved is it? I can change brake pads, oil and put shelves up and I carry a basic tool kit. Can you tell a failed coil by looking at it? Am I being realistic?

a coil... so simple, yet so troublesome little thingy. They use the same V6 engine not only in a 406, but also in a new 407, 607-luxo-barge, Laguna, C5, C8 and God knows where else.
I thought only VW suffered from it...

My 2 yo Scenic (17k on the clock) has uneven wear on the left rear tyre. Tread depth down to 2mm and wear is uneven across the width of the tyre with greater wear taking place on the outboard side. Right rear still has 4mm and wearing evenly. Local Kwik Fit say it is not due to wheel imbalance and could be rear tracking. Dealer has checked and cannot find any misalignment or other problem with rear suspension. Tyres are original factory fitted Michelins.
Anyone out there had a similar problem ? Read more

My Scenic has Michelins and the rear tyre wear out about 6-5000 miles before the fronts .The fronts wear very evenly across the tyre and equally as a pair but the rear tyres on the last 3 sets wear unevenly.
offside rear wears out 2-3000 miles before the nearside rear with obout 4-mm on inboard and 2-mm on out board side of tyres.
My Scenic is always heavily loaded but distributed evenly in the boot

Has anyone experienced any of the following problems with a Skoda Fabia Elegance 16 valve 100bhp first registered 2000.

1. Instrument panel lights failed requiring replacement of instrument panel and speed/trip computer.

2. Failure of cambelt tension roller requiring complete engine rebuild. This happened at 33,000 miles and car serviced by Skoda throughout.

3. Failure of hydraulic pump on assisted steering caused by blocked water drain. Required replacement of pump and steering gearbox.

4. Alarm operating without reason and failing to respond to reset from remote key. Door locking mechanism operating erratically while alarm sounding. Alarm continues to sound when engine started and car is being driven. This required replacement of alarm module and horrendous labour charges to pin down fault. To add insult to injury the alarm cannot be disabled as it is part of the door lock system.
The alarm had operated erratically since the car was purchased but no reason discovered by computer readout.

Just how reliable are Skodas? All the above faults are component failure. This has been the most unreliable car I have owned in fifty years of motoring.
