Indy

I have a 51 plate Ford Mondeo and recently noticed that the passenger footwell carpets were wet.

First I thought the Air Conditioning pipe had got clogged up but now it seems more like something totally different. I have noticed it especially after it has rained. Could it be a blocked drain or something? If so where exactly should I look? I have checked the door seals and they seem to be fine.

Any help in sorting this out would be appreciated

Hi,

My golf has just started being a bit of a pain to start in the mornings. Essentially the engine turns over but it takes a few times to get going and a bit of throttle sometimes helps. It's only just started doing this - is it just old age!

I had the car serviced a little while ago and they replaced the cambelt. Would the timing be out and causing this? I've not noticed any problems with MPG?

any clues appreciated, thanks in advance

Seems like the timing change might have fixed this as it seems "OK" when I've started it up over the last two mornings.

Thanks for the help!

First it was my son's Bora, now it's my daughter's Polo!!!

The remote control activates/deactivates the (VW Cat 1 fitted) alarm OK, but doesn't have any effect on the central locking. I can lock/unlock the doors with the key OK, but doesn't have any effect on the central locking. No whirring, nothing. Which also means the petrol flap stays locked.

First suspect is the fuse, but too dark to check - will wait until tomorrow. Any other suspects?

Not easy.It runs along the floor pan under the carpet and seats and into the door pillars. If you can get the rear door open manually, then that is enough for the mot.

I recently purchased a Fiat Punto 55 (1.1L) N reg 91k miles for my sons birthday tommorrow 28/10 this being his first car.Yesterday I went to move it off the drive & it failed to start.I charged the battery overnight thinking this was the fault but when I refitted it today no joy.I decided to call the AA & it turned out to be a jammed starter. It was freed by a light tap with a hammer whilst firing the engine. My question is the starter likely to be a problem now it has failed once or should it be replaced.
I would appreciate any suggestion give my son is a student on a tight budget,
thanks in advance,

I recently purchased a second hand Nissan Primera GX - 1998 model. It runs great with only 50K on the clock.

The problem I have is regarding the car radio.

The LCD has completely failed. It still lights up OK but there is no text visible in the display. I can use the radio fine but have no idea what radio stations I am listening to. Also the cassette player does not work.

The radio in the car is the Nissan factory installed radio.

I'm obviously now thinking of buying a new car radio for the car.

I've been looking on the Halford's website and they are currently promoting a "Soundmax SM7088WMR" cd/mp3 player for £69 + half price installation.

My question is - do these off the shelf radio's (all makes considered) use a standard connector?

I understand that an adapter will be required from my Nissan factory fitted radio.

If an adapter is required does anyone know which one would be required? also is it a common adapter easily available?

Just one more question ! Apologies for this !...

Halfords are offering half price installation on car radio's. Has anyone ever had one fitted by them at full price? I'd be interested to know what a half price installation charge might be - approximately and whether they can do it onsite if you turn up at one of their shops in the car.

Hi all, I recently purchased a 53 plate one focus tdci (115ps) and Ive notcied that on long runs I'm getting around 40-45 mpg driving at around 65-70 (I'm no boy racer by any means). I've notcied that also should I need to put my foot to the floor when the turbo kicks in I can see lots of emissions from the back of the car. This doesnt happen when the car is stationary and revved (with my GF looking at the exhaust).

Anyone offer any help/advice

Thanks in advance

Millers Diesel Power Plus www.millersoils.net works really well on cleaning up the injectors. My garage was most impressed with the figures on the last MOT on my car after I'd used this.

Boltar

We keep hearing about the damage done if you put petrol in a diesel car (makes me wonder why they don't just make the diesel car pumps & injectors out of the same materials as those in a petrol car then they wouldn't get damaged , but I digress...) , but what happens to a petrol engine if it gets a mouthful of diesel? I recently noticed that cars know come with automatic wipers and automatic lighting. Frankly are these new fangled car electronics really required are they not a waste of time. Any person unable to turn on the wipers or lights by him/her self should not be on the road! Read more

Happy Blue!

Rented Hyundai Trajet had these in Israel last week. The lights worked fine and the wipers were good alos, but only after the first hour, as it hadn't rained for months so the screen needed a good clean before the squeaking and juddering stopped. Afterwasrds, for the remainder of the one rainy day they were great and a great advantage.

Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?

Hugo {P}

A family of four went on holdiay to America to board a cruise liner. It was a requirement that passports were retained by the crew who then returned them back to the travellors at the end of the cruise.

So single mum with three children boarded said liner, only to find that youngest child's passport had gone AWOL!

OK so they couldn't travel on the liner, they sourced a temporary passport from a British Consulate office after some questioning. A few days later they joined the liner at another destination and boarded for the rest of the cruise, so all was not lost.

When I asked how the mother could have lost it it seemed suspicious. We could all be wrong but it appears to her to have not been handed back at an immigration checkpoint on their travels into the US.

Their usual practise is for the mother to hold all passports and each child is checked off by immigration officer. However, mother thinks that at some point in the process only three passports may have been handed back. The one that is lost coincidently belongs to the youngest child who did not need to be finger printed, unlike the rest of the party.

Several possibilities exists. It could have been dropped by mother or another family member carrying them, it could have been fumbled by a member of US immigration with good intentions or it could have been retained by deliberate slight of hand.

Furthermore, mother thinks she can accurately determine the last point at which she was able to show all 4 passports.

I personally found it strange that only one out of 4 passports that were being carried together actually went missing. I would have expected all 4 passports to go missing, or none at all, remembering when we went away recently SWMBO kept all ours together, as this mother did.

Has anyone else heard of this happening? I have suggested that this lady actually reports her suspicions to the US immigration service, rather than just rely on the Passport Office to file another missing passport report.

I hope her extra travel costs will be reimbursed on her insurance. Read more

Hence my original sarcasm...:-)

However, I receive Winter Hill transmissions and the analogue Ceefax service is as up to date as you would wish whether news based or, for instance, latest traffic holdups.
