We all seem to think that we get a hard time through speed cameras and parking fines etc. If only motorists would stick to the letter of the law the powers that be would soon have to withdraw somewhat as their dastardly scheme to get every last penny from us would soon be non-profitable. Read more
Hi,
I was trying to install something the other day, I got through all the instalation and then it asked me for something called a "Disc Key", I've looked all through the manual, on the disc, on the box and been to the help website for the publisher, but nothing seemed to work.
Please can you help?
Thanks

"What's with the CAT6 stuff? It's expensive and CAT5 will IIRC handle up to 1Gb/s."
Given the relatively small amounts of cable involved in house use, given that you only want to do it once, you might as well try and future proof yourself. So I lay cat6
(mind you the boxes it came in are rather battered and the lorry is long gone!)
Further to the Lottery Dream Car thread try this....
You have unlimited funds, but are permitted to buy only one car for the next 2 years and it must meet the same requirements as your current vehicle - i.e. if you need an estate for work, or four seats for children, then thats what you must choose. Please assume that your spouse's/partner's car does not exist.
I'll start.....
Subaru Outback 3.0R until someone in Europe makes a slightly raised (not SUV) superb handling (not SUV) grand tourer with room for five. As I've said before, when Volvo, Merc, BMW etc make a prestige MPV with all the driving qualities they are known for but do not include in their SUVs then I may consider one...until then hello Fuji Heavy Industries.

I would, however like one that didn't have an ingress of
water into the front passenger footwell (which my dealer seems incapable
of fixing.)

It's probably the roof assembly that is leaking, and yes the dealers have no way of fixing it.Dozens of hours to remove and replace, plus hundereds of pounds for a new roof(the old one cannot be removed intact).
Whenever I park my Mazda 6 next to the kitchen and use the microwave to cook some healthy porridge the alarm goes off! Its okay if I deactivate the sensors inside the cabin..Are there any physicist's out there who can explain this phenomenon? Read more
Wow - thanks for all the comments and conjecute - I didn't mean to cause any trouble! Its good to know there is such a pool of knowledge in this forum. I think buzbee is on the right lines.. Its a newish (>12 months) Samsung 900 Watt microwave, so I don't think its leaking. As the electric meter consumer unit is also in close proximity I wonder if its the electric field being created by all that current flowing setting off the cabin detectors in some way(I'm not sure if these are microwave or ultrasound).
Oh and no I don't live in a steel container...yet
I need to make a journey from SE London (Woolwich area) to Heathrow, to arrive at about 13.00 weekday.
I have two choices: go via central London, or M25.
M25 is a much longer trip, but London could be congested.
Has anyone done this route, or can give advice on the most stress-free way.

Most stress-free is probably the M25 at that time of day. If you want *really* stress-free, aim to get there about 11:30 and grab some lunch in one of the A4 hotels before going to the terminal.
Kevin...
My new Ka has not got any form of security on it as standard, Is it worth me fitting a aftermarket immobiliser or possibly a piece of equipment like a disklok?. Not because it will bring my insurance down lots, Just for piece of mind, I live in quite a low crime area, but since its my first brand new car it seems silly not to protect it.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Saw a cyclist coming towards me this evening, no hands, head bowed. As I got closer, I could see he was texting! Either that, or playing a game gear type thingy. Way to go!!!! Read more
Cyclist using a mobile? You know what that is-he's using it to look on the internet, look up the highway code webiste and check what a 'red' light means he should do, as the last 5 he just went were rather hairy, people and cars hooting and shouting and diving for cover.
Do it all the time in Norwich!
Best one today was a cyclist going through red, then diving across the oncoming traffic and up the pedestrian ramp, scattering people. He must have got at least 5000 points for that!
I digress, sorry. Motorists are the same, like nodding dogs-head down to text-better make sure I don't hit car in front so head up-no i'm ok-head down to text-better make sure I don't hit car in front so head up-etc etc etc
I've got an 02 TDDI Focus and I've just noticed that its lost about 1/2 pint of coolant recently (probably in the last 2 months) In the previous 12 months its never lost a drop.
Is it normal for these to lose a bit of coolant over time? In all my previous cars the coolant has remained at a constant level for years.
I've checked the oil which seems clean and theres no overheating etc - is there anything I can check to pinpoint a forthcoming problem? Read more

without doubt renualt 25 it was comftable needed to be when sitting at side of road broken down
Don't know whether this is common but in the last couple of days I've come across 2 motorcycles with coloured headlights. The first was a bright 'traffic light' red and the second, this afternoon, an intense yellow, so bright it was dazzling. I've really got no problem with bikers making themselves more visible but if these lights were distracting during the day how much moreso are they at night? I thought such things were illegal but if they are nobody seems to be enforcing the rules. Read more
Dont know how relevant it is, but I've seen plenty of cars with black and white coloured tail light clusters, but when whatever lights are activated they allways seem to shine the correct colour. (well, mostly, I have seen some VERY pale amber indicators in my time)

Never seen that house before...that's if it really does exist are you aren't cracking up ;-)
Yes it was me you saw on Monday. I don't know how you mere mortals manage getting up before 10. I really don't.
