I have a new transit connect for work and the hand book says the fuel tank is 60 liters I have run untill the fuel light comes on plus 10 miles and it only took 45 liters. Is the hand book wrong or has it a large reserve? Read more
What do the percentages of no claims equate to in terms of number of claim years? For example, mine says 55% but I don't know how many years that is equivalent to.

It is a bit of a maze this no claims thing. Every time I renew my insurance It shows 4 years NCD but I have had (with the same company) 4 years NCD for the past eleven years. Recently when I changed my car I got some quotes from other insurers most of them would only allow me the 4 years. Luckily my old insurer still undercuts any others so I stick with them but it's a strange do.
Hello
I posted a couple of weeks back re getting caught by a mobile camera team doing 45-50 in a 40 limit. This happened 19 days ago now, and i was under the impression that the NIP had to be put in the post by the police within 14 days. Is this correct?
I am reluctant to start believing i have got away with it, but what other explanation is there? Couldn't the police just stick it in the post now and say "must have got lost in the post or something" and ignore any franking/date marks?
Has this happened to anyone before in the backroom?

Hello again
Sorry I did not reply earlier, I have not had the chance this weekend. Thanks for all the replies, just to clarify I have not changed address, car etc so the police should have found the correct keeper. I was not stopped at the time, it was one of those transit vans with the rear windows facing you.
Thanks for the detailed and informative reply DVD, this is the law as i understood it.
Don't want to speak too soon, but it does look like i have got away with it. Pretty lucky I think as I am sure I exceeded 46mph. To be honest i think the whole experience has done me some good as recently I have been getting very impatient behind the wheel. I have since slowed down and changed my attitude somewhat.
Cheers
I recently aquired a 520iSE, 97, average mileage, full leather and very well looked after. BMW servive history. It looks the part with 18" M series wheels and low profiles, but it just disappoints me all the time. Rattles in the doors which i can't get to, and on a bumpy surfaces it's a complete nightmare. My previous car was an a low specification Omega, but it just felt a better car. I am completely disillusioned.
Is it just mine? I would welcome some feedback

Our 530d has the standard alloys and the ride quality is just right. We had a loaner 320Ci Sport last week with the 18's on it and the ride was absolutely terrible...
Just wondered how many people have breakdown cover for their car. Mine is due now and after years of paying for cover on various cars and never using it, I am thinking of dropping it, of course it will be sods law to break down after I do this. Read more
I'm with Auto Aid too. I've used them a couple of times over the years and can highly recommend them.
Imagine you were driving along a single carriageway NSL A road when around the corner ahead of you came a car on your lane. It's overtaking a car in the other lane so you hit the brakes and steer to the left to avoid it.
With the skill of Fangio / the luck of the Irish, you avoid the oncoming car, however you run into the fence on the left which doesn't give way like they did in the A-Team, but causes huge damage to your car.
The cars racing each other have both gone, you obviously didn't get their number plates and you've only got TPFT insurance.
Assuming no witnesses, would the insurance company pay out? Read more
not a hope, insurance companies on pay out are slippery as eels.

Cheers ihpj. Just got the car back and it's been diagnosed as gearbox internal problem. The garage has contacted the warranty company and are awaiting a decision from them regarding the strip down and repair of the box. I got the car back because they can not even start on it till friday due to there work load. I'll keep you updated

I think you will find it has a large reserve. I have used one myself and was surprised at relatively how little diesel it took to fill the tank once the light had come on. Its probably something to do with us all being too stupid to know when to fill up without giving us ample warning by way of a low fuel light.
