Found on the car by car breakdown on this website while searching for the new 2005 Almera.
However could not find it anywhere else including a google search.
Anyone have any info about this car??
Or is the C-Note just a concept model ,not a specific production car?? Read more

It seems that Holts have dug the "Redex" brand an early grave.

I went into Halfords today and noticed that they've changed all the bottle designs and now have "New improved formula" Redex on the shelves. While this may not be of great news to many, and may excite a few, upon further inspection I dicovered that the 1 litre cans now treat 8 tanks (50 litres each) of petrol, rather than the 20 tanks the "unimproved" stuff treated. Comparing old bottles with new the new just looks like it's been watered down (red not as deep), but is selling at the same price. Anyone else noticed this?

Any engine will benefit from a long run with normal fuel and no additives.

2 years or even 1 year ago the Tax Camera threads were the hottest on this board. Not only did (do) we have a dedicated speeding thread we also had (have) a dedicated speeding related to Tax Cameras thread.

I was there up the front leading the charge, OK I was also being made redundant at the time and so had little to do at work but surf the net, but I wanted to get my view out there and oppose the anti-car brigade who strangely post so often on this a motoring board. However just lately I can't really be bothered as we are going over the same arguements time and again and I feel that the overwhelming evidence is that the fixed cameras at least are nothing more than revenue raising devices and most people now agree with that.

Today neither speeding thread is anywhere to be seen on the first or second page and so I ask the question are we Tax Cameraed out? Read more

Oh, alright then RF. The Road Angel it is then. I'd already settled on the RA but the snooper kind of grabbed my eye for £99

::Sigh::

Still, I'd have only spent the other £300 on toys, gadgets or skiing gear.

Digressing a bit from my thread on the vandalism to Sarah Howards 17 year old Fiat Panda made me think. She obviously loved her little old car. I'm full of admriation for her in bucking the trend.

My point is driving a classic or old car in the United States seems to be the cool thing to do. Cruising the boulevards or even day to day transport in a '65 Mustang or similar is a big wow for them it seems..

So why hasn't this caught on here?

Why are we so obsessed with driving as new as possible? Read more

If you believe that after a certain stage in development, cars - in town at least - have evolved to a level where they can't get much better - then having the latest model is a waste of money.

If , however, a new car is just bling, you'll keep buying new ones.

I can't see how all the latest cup holders make any difference in a traffic queue waiting for a green light. Or how the latest hugest ugliest 4x4 makes any ecological/economic or parking sense in town.

but judging by the people who drive them, my mindset is warped and I am incapable of parking any car neatly...(let alone 4x4s).

Never mind: when oil hits $80 per gallon watch SUV/4x4 values!:-)

Does anyone know how faesible it is to retro fit air con onto a modern car (referring to 2004 fiesta here) but equally applicable to most modern cars.
cheers

It shouldn't be too expensive on a fiesta as the dash doesn't have to be removed. Everything is accessible from the engine side of the bulkhead. Probably still looking at £6 or 700 though.

Is there any difference in the safety of cars with the same NCAP crash result but of different sizes? I.e does it follow that a large car with with a 4 star rating is safer than a smaler car with a 4 star rating?

Reason for asking is that I am looking at buying a car for my partner to ferry our young daughter around in and I want her to be in the safest car. She fancies a small car like an Ibiza or Fabia. Would these be any less safe than say a focus or leon? All have a 4 star NCAP rating

Cheers Mike,

Much appreciated. The more I think about it, the more I look forward to it.

Again, thanks a lot. I'll keep everyone informed as I'd always wanted to do it - I'm just greatful you've both talked me into finally doing it!

Thanks,

The dispicable 'erberts to trashed this car should be throughley ashamed of themselves, but wait. Maybe it was targeted 'cos it looked like a scrapper. With respect to other Fiat Panda owners, most E reg examples probably look like they are dumped.

So respect to maybe the future first lady then for ignoring newer souless cars even though no doubt she could afford one! and driving an older car. Proves a point though a lot of people buy flashy cars as a status symbol. Not Mrs Howard! Read more

I bet they probably already have and are! Hardly something a well adjusted professional would do.

My Peugeot 406 Exec Estate has gone back to its leasing company today after 3 yrs and 76000 miles.
I don't want to post the reg no here, but if you see a Black 406 Estate, with Beige leather interior in extremely good condtion at an auction soon then DON'T buy it!!!
The car is fitted with 2.0 HPI (Petrol) engine, which was a low emmissions experiment by Peugeot/Citroen. They dropped it after a year or so.
Mine hasn't worked properly (hesitation/stuttering/flat performance) for 18 mths and has spent many wks in the dealers. The emissions warning light has been on for most of that time and I don't see how the car could pass a (legitimate) MOT. Read more
