Shocked when my I went to see my 18 year old son and he had converted his Nova GTE back from Max Power spec (neons, bad boy bonnet etc, etc) to completely standard.
He said that his mates are doing the same and standard cars are now "back in".
Could it be true? I find it difficult to think of this fashion, if that is what it is, reaching its logical conclusion and young kids are all driving around in immaculate standard cars, wearing brogues and sweaters.
I wonder what insurers will do to squeeze more money out of youngsters then? Period standard stereo, very rare now, 20% on your policy young man. Read more
Picked up on this up via another thread - but with labour charges as they are in the UK, how about popping over the Channel for a dealer service? My local Peugeot main dealers (I live over here) charge 31? an hour for labour (that's a little over £20). A good independent around 25?/hour.
Hop on a cheap day return, leave the car at the garage, have a good French lunch and then stock up with goodies. Makes it a pleasure having a service! Read more
36 Euros an hour from the big VW/Skoda dealer - but he IS in Marbella! I think the little Skoda dealer in Algeciras is about 26 to 27 euros.

A colleague at work is selling his car, i was wondering whether its worth considering?
1995 (M) Rover Coupe 1.6, Tahiti Blue (Honda engine), genuine 44k miles, 2 mature owners from new, full service history, i would describe this car as immaculate, mot till jan 2006, and 6 months tax. He is asking £1600, is it worth considering??
Thanks

Just a thought - the Coupe might become a rarity, so if you look after it and keep it for some time it might not lose much in value.
I was at RAF Shawbury today, and saw something at the side of the road as I passed through the main gate that made my jaw drop.
Anyone care to guess what despised element of motoring has made it into the Royal Air Force?

Just interested to know how long people think it should take for an MOT test. I usually have mine done at an independent garage and it takes 30 mins or 40 at the most. Today I had it done at a main dealer and I waited an hour and 3/4. After an hour I asked how long it would be and they said it takes an hour and half, I have never known it take that long, it's a W reg Micra. Just wondered what others think. Read more
30 minutes. When you look at the book, there isn't really all that much to do and can be done in a logical and systematic way with one in the car and one under.
(I say 30 mins for me, old car, not CAT so no full emissions test).

This van is a Police cctv for speed checks and operates in Merseyside. A similar one operates in Leicster according to a policespecials.com site.
So keep your eyes peeled and it might save you a ticket.
My best advice is no to speed to avoid a ticket and points. Read more
Sorry - it isn't. It's a CCTV van. Merseyside usually use Sprinters but i've seen a few of them.
Thanks for the warning but you only need to worry about these if you get a bit drunk and start assaulting people!

Thanks for that Stuart - I was wondering why neither of my parents had taken a test, they would have been 13 in 1934, a little young to have held a licence pre test.
They must have been give licences during the war and are still making good use of them.
What is the best hot hatch and why in your opinion? Post here?? Read more
best hot hatch without a doubt original cosworth sierra, only problem was the security as standard was useless so a lot got stolen and wrecked by people incapable of driving them properly...cheers...keo.

Really gets me how the Gov say that freezing fuel duty until September is costing them £235 mio or so.
No, it is NOT costing anything, the extra fuel duty is money the exchequer has never had, all they are doing is delaying the date that they will further penalise the motorist ...
... and of course trying to buy votes. Read more

theyre definitely not going out of fashion round here in stoke-on-trent, although the council is trying to stop them by putting speed bumps on all their little rat runs. But then they just find somewhere else to scream around in their puntos and novas
